Zatanna had had no idea she had left. She woke up in her apartment turned mini House of Mysteries and looked around. “Well this isn’t the House but goodness look what I was working on.” she said as she stretched a little and looked around, then her brain settled back into place. “Such a shame, the House and I were getting to know each other again.” she moved slowly as if readjusting herself to this place. She rolled her shoulders, “John was right, she likes me better.” she purred the words out, “And I was happy to get to know her and her new form.” and mending things with John that had begun nicely. Even if he kept trying to insist on a Trewhiddle Tuesday. “Ah. So this is what that feels like to be pulled from here and returned later on, ahh Madison Valley you’re almost as fun as home. I feel a little funky, like I got shuffled through time again.” she huffed a little as she sat down in her living room and wrote out a note for Garin, apologizing for the sudden vanishing act, whispered over it and sent it to him since she was sure he was at work, the message would settle in via butterfly that would unfurl a note upon arrival. She did feel bad about scaring him so soon after Kira’s loss. She leaned back and looked around, spotting the broken mirror her younger self had not fixed yet. That thought brought back a lot of memories from this place as she got up and finally found an intact mirror to give herself a good looking at, waving a hand muttering and having the mirror play back some of the things that had happened in the past few weeks here.. “Oh. Well wasn’t I stupid.” she rolled her eyes. “Goodness, Zee, don’t you know anything by now? You know he will come around, he always does. That man would be lost without you, you just continue your life until he realizes this.” she lectured the image in the mirror then waved the memories away. “You didn’t need to damn near break yourself to fix that one, I really am an idiot some days, I can feel the damage you did to yourself.” “You’re hopeless, ah well, Black Orchid was right, of course, I never stopped caring.” she licked her lips and shook out her hair. “Ah well, let’s see what I can patch up here, and remind the world just who I am. You, old self, were not what this place or that man needs, you were young, I forgive you.” she stalked to her closet and laughed. “Oh, we’re going to need to redo this a little bit there.” Slender fingers tapped along the doorframe, words spilling out as she pulled a white corset from the air and black leather pants and thigh high boots. She secured the black choker around her throat, ruby glittering, as she shook her hair back out and looked at herself in the mirror again after putting on her new outfit. “That’s better. Fishnets are for the stage or for seducing people, I suppose.” she grinned wickedly, then, “Or to tease Garin with, living with him is fun, he appreciates fine fashion.” She hummed softly, singing to herself a tune she’d heard from a neighbor’s house, with a reminder to fix up the sound proofing, she didn’t want to hear them either. “I've been down the darkest alleys, Saw the dark side of the moon, To get to you, to get to you. I've looked for love in every stranger, Took too much to ease the anger, All for you, yeah, all for you” then she laughed softly, it was perfect and true. “Oh you have no idea.” she purred to herself before she just laughed again. She opened the door and checked the wards on the house. “I think you’ll make a fine replacement for the House in due time, be kind to Garin dear house, we'll get to work on you soon I promise” she patted the door gently. She spoke a few more words, allowing her friends access once more, even Constantine would be allowed back in. But she made sure Garin’s wing was warded for her and him (and the cat) alone. “Now. Where to first.” Zatanna was feeling good. She had seen the mistakes her younger self had made when dealing with Constantine and would not repeat them. She looked back at the house for a moment longer, yes, she loved him and hoped perhaps in time things would work out here, too, but she did not need to torture herself over him either. She would repair his wounds, soothe his aches, feed him. And she refused to let him cut her out of his life, he’d just have to get over that one sooner rather than later. He would put up and shut up, or get out of her way. He was lucky to have her in his life and he’d be reminded of that fact. She closed the door and headed out into the streets. “Let’s not make this a Manchester weekend…” she said to herself, laughing, because that might just be fun, as she summoned her phone to her hand and started walking, taking in the breath of fresh air that was Madison Valley in the start of winter. |
