Scott and Jill
Scott looked at her for a moment, then nodded and shifted his gaze. He looked down at his hands in his lap. What she said made sense, and he knew it was likely true, but at the moment he couldn't see past the grief. Kira was gone, and it wasn't fair.
"I know. I just...I'm not ready for this," He moved his hand to gesture toward the door. Toward the back yard. Toward the party. He wasn't sure how he'd gotten through speed dating, except that it had been so soon after she was sent home he hadn't really had time to think about it.
"I thought I was, but I'm not." Because Kira should be there, laughing and enjoying the day with everyone else.
