Death was exploring after her conversation with Kenny. She was feeling dark and gloomy because he’d laughed at her. She knew why, and understood, but she was still feeling dark about it. Why was it so funny someone like her would be curious about such things? She sighed, stuffing her hands into her pockets and wandering through the Park with her head down. Due to how she was feeling, the shadows kind of clung to her heels, and the air was cooler around her.
She played, lazily, with the ankh around her neck. She’d even forgotten herself and was wearing her eye of ra paint and ankh earrings, paler than usual and dressed in head to toe black. She was either a crazy goth or… well, death. So when she stumbled upon someone she knew, she paused and tried to collect herself. “My apologies, Haymitch.” her voice was warm and friendly.
Even if she was looking like she was staring into legitimate space.

Haymitch enjoyed walking through the park on his way to and from home or work. He quite liked people watching and it was a pleasant place to be. Very different to home though it felt more like it than Panem was now. He was definitely among those who never wished to leave Madison, he had a life and family he'd never have gotten had he not been lucky enough to find himself here.
Smiling at the familiar woman he shook off the apology, “No harm done. Though I have to admit your name is escaping me” he assumed they'd met since she knew his name but he just couldn't place her.

Death was off in thought, and so she wasn’t minding her usual manners. The kind that made her remember that scaring everyone by telling them where she’d known them, was off. She wasn’t being a very good force of nature today. She merely was being here. Which… was intense. “Death, dear, I’m Death.” she said evenly, before offering a slightly less cold smile. It was a real one, just.. Still a little edged.
“I was distracted and that usually ends poorly.” she said as she focused her attention on him. “I am glad to see you are doing well here.”
****
Haymitch’s eyebrows rose, “Death? Right well, that’s certainly different. Though you do look vaguely familiar” he had to admit.
“So what has you distracted? If you don’t mind me asking” he said, not delving any deeper into the ‘death’ claim right then. It was certainly an interesting claim though.
***
Death only laughed. “I think that is the most common phrase when it comes to seeing me. Besides the usual No, I’m not dead!.” she smiled a little, it really didn’t bother her. She was more amused at anything, most people didn’t bother admitting they were familiar with her in any sense.
“A friend brought up a point that irritates me. It does not fit into my rules and it turns out even Death can get a little embarrassed.” she waved a hand lazily, trying to deflect it with that. She really did not need to go over it with anyone else, thank you very much.

Haymitch made a play of patting himself down, “Pretty sure I’m still currently alive right? I’m hoping this is a social meeting” he said with a small smile. It was interesting though, the more he thought about it the more he wondered exactly how much truth there was in it. All sorts of people arrived here after all.
Haymitch chuckled then, “I’ve learnt there’s a lot of things that don’t fit into my world view, I tend to just go with it now”
***
Death laughed at his antics. “It is a social meeting. I'm trying to avoid doing work for those of us trapped here. The locals still must face me but I take no joy in it.”
“That is very true. My worldview is unique in that it is more of a multiuniverse-multidimension kind of view.” She smiled a bit, “but I am learning to stop trying to stuff things into a nice little box.”
***
“Phew, glad to hear that” though few years ago things could have been very different, but thankfully that was all behind him and he was staying strong off the drink. He nodded, “Understandable. You still have a job to do” If she really was Death of course.
Haymitch chuckled at that, “I can’t imagine multi-universe-multi-dimension views can fit too easily into a box, even a big one”
***
Death only smiled a bit. “Yes, it is what it is. I have purpose but so far no one here is crossing close to my realm of work.” she brushed her hair out of her eyes, she knew how close everyone came to her, and she was wary to be too sure here but she was hopeful.
“Thankfully, it’s a rather large, extradminensional box.” she teased, smiling.
***
“I’m glad to hear it, it wouldn’t be nice for anybody involved if we all started dying” Haymitch said with a smile before chuckling, “Ah well that’s an impressive box”
***
Death only gave him a patient death is merely a new adventure, I am not here to hasten it along.” she laughed gently. “I am glad things are well here, and I hope you have a continued good existence here.” she moved towards to the way she was going normally. “I hope you don’t mind me interupting your day.”
***
“Not at all. It was nice to meet you, properly I mean” he added with a nod, “Enjoy the rest of your day and don’t worry about boxes so much” he couldn’t help adding before giving her a wave and moving off on his own way.
