WHO Gibbs & Magius WHAT Lunchtime conversations WHEN Saturday afternoon (10/7) WHERE The diner WARNINGS tbd, probably none STATUS Matchup | Closed | Incomplete (10/16)
Gibbs was a regular fixture at the diner most days. He always sat at the counter, always ordered coffee, always got a sandwich of some kind, and almost always asked after what kind of pie they had available even though he knew he should lay off the pie every once in a while. He knew the waitresses by name, the cook and the owner, all charmed with his easy going smile and the fact that he actually had manners.
Some days, the seats on either side of him stayed empty and other times, someone either took a seat while he was eating or was sitting there already when he got there. Today it was the latter and he offered the other gentleman a nod in greeting before he turned to say hello to the waitress. "Afternoon, ma'am. Coffee please, and a menu. What specials has he got today?" Gibbs asked, meaning the cook.
The waitress smiled just like she always did when he called her ma'am. "Mr Gibbs, how many times do I gotta tell ya you can call me Rachel?" she replied as she handed over a menu.
"At least one more time," he replied.
Rachel just rolled her eyes at him. "He's got a nice brisket cooking up, should be just about done if that tickles your fancy."
"Sounds like a winner to me," Gibbs decided, sliding the menu over. "Fries and a pickle as always, please." It was always important to have manners. He gave the guy sitting next to him a friendly smile too when he caught the guy looking over at him. "Afternoon," Gibbs greeted.
