Attending the wedding at the farm had been the final straw for Wil. He didn’t know the bride and groom well, but it was obvious that they were happy and in love and he couldn’t bear to not share his feelings with Amberle and Eretria any longer. They’d been dancing around each other for months and it was time to sort this out once and for all. Either they were going to make a real effort to have a relationship or they weren’t and he needed to know.
He hadn’t slept well, so he was up before the girls and decided to make some breakfast. His cooking skills were rudimentary at best and it took a few attempts before he had a dish of eggs and plate of sausages that were suitable for consumption. There was also a pot of coffee brewed, a modern convenience that they’d all become rather dependant on.
When he heard footsteps, he got a knot in his stomach, but he knew that they couldn’t go on like this any longer.

Eretria yawned as she made her way downstairs. Seeing Wil cooking made her pause, he wasn't very good at it, but it smelled okay so she smiled. “Oh good, coffee.” She shook her hair out and finished rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
Ere wasn't making his life easier by walking in in a spaghetti strap tank top, no bra and low slung pants, too lazy to get dressed for the day yet.
“You look thoughtful, what's up?” She asked as she mixed sugar into her coffee then dumped flavored creamer in. She then stole a sausage off the plate and took a bite. She pondered for a moment, edible, then plunked down in a chair.

Amberle was always up with the dawn whether she wanted to be or not and today was no exception. She'd enjoyed the wedding the previous night and had been grateful for the happiness of the people who were friends of friends, but it of course got her thinking. Whenever she was thinking too much, she liked to run because it cleared her mind and she didn't know if she wanted to be thinking about what she was thinking about.
When she circled back toward the house, she was tired, sweaty, and hungry for breakfast. Amberle opened the back door and stepped into the kitchen, only to see Wil and Eretria already up. So much for not thinking about what she'd been thinking about.
"Morning," she greeted, taking in both of their appearances and breathing hard. She waited a beat and then headed for the fridge to get water.

It surprised Wil when Amberle entered the house since he hadn’t realized she was up and about already. No matter, they were all here now and that was the important thing. He hadn’t gotten a chance to answer Eretria’s question before Amberle joined them, but after a moment of hesitation, he forced himself to address the so called elephant in the room.
He turned his back to the stove so he could see both of their faces as he spoke. “We need to sort out what we’re doing,” he said. “If we want to give this a go, then let’s do it. If we don’t, then we all need to think about moving on.”

She blinked as she stuffed a sausage into her mouth, then slowly managed to chew it without dying. Because THAT was not how she expected her morning to go. She washed it down with a glass of juice then cocked her head sideways.
“Well that’s rather pointed, isn’t it?” of course it was. Why wouldn’t it be? None of them were really willing to start in on the subject, though usually it was Ere who was being the open, pointed, blunt one.
“We do. It’s like walking on eggshells.”

Amberle had known it was only a matter of time before this came up and they did really need to talk about it honestly and openly. She took a seat at the table with her water bottle and looked to Wil. "Can breakfast keep for a bit while we talk?" She didn't like the idea of him not having a seat at the table, literally speaking, while they were having this kind of a discussion. There wasn't any point to any of them being distracted.
She did care a great deal for him, but she'd done a terrible thing, making love to him with full knowledge that she was the Ellcrys. And then there was the rather intense makeout session she and Eretria had shared not that long ago. Amberle looked from Wil to Ere and back to Wil, smiling softly that time.
"I don't know how we're meant to make it work, but I'd like to try." There. She had made her choice. Hopefully they were both also interested. If not, they'd figure that out, too.

“We can eat while we talk,” Wil said, grabbing some plates from the cupboard and putting them on the table before moving over the dishes of eggs and sausages so they could help themselves. He poured himself a cup of coffee, wishing it was something stronger, and took his own seat.
He looked at each of the girls. “I would like to try as well,” he said. “I know it won’t be easy, but there is at least one future where we were able to make it work.” Possibly two, depending on if the kids were from the same timeline as that time they thought they were together or not. Either way, it was enough for him to give this a shot.

Ere paused to look between them. Then she shrugged, because she refused to get emotional over it. Because what if it didn't work? She didn't want to get too excited.
Her life was often one big disappointment after another. But then she smiled, shoving that worry down. “We can try, there's nothing wrong with that. It might go better than we think.”
Though she'd probably kill Wil if she got knocked up right now.

Amberle appreciated that Wil joined them and she filled her plate while he got himself situated too. "Okay, so we're all in agreement there then," she replied, cautiously optimistic. She smiled at the both of them and then took a sip of her water.
"How exactly are we meant to make this work? Do we...go out in pairs then? Have nights where it's the three of us?" Amberle wasn't sure she was alright with just jumping into things, but it would be worth shaking things up to see what would work best for them. They were already living together so it was just a matter of taking that next step.

Figuring out the logistics was the difficult part. Wil barely knew how to have a relationship with one person let alone with two. "I think perhaps we could do both," he suggested. "Sometimes two of us and sometimes all three of us." Getting all three of them in the same place at the same time could be tricky with their varying work schedules.
"I did a bit of research and there's no one way to make this type of thing work," he said. "The important thing is that we all communicate with each other."
