Tea woke up that morning like she usually did, only she didn't have a random girl in her bed. Older Tea tended to not bring a lot of random girls home and stuck to only bringing home the ones she was actually dating. At that moment, she wasn't dating anyone so she woke up alone. It actually wasn't as bad as she used to make it out to be. Dragging herself out of bed, she shut off her alarm and shuffled herself into the bathroom in nothing but a large shirt and panties on. As she moved to sit down and pee, she nearly fell in because she didn't realize the seat was up. "Kenny! Put the damn sit back down" She yelled out as she stood up, slamming it down before she sat down on it and began to pee. She didn't care if he came in to respond to her while she was still sitting on the toilet. They'd seen each other naked multiple times in threesomes over the years so this was nothing.
Unlike Tea, Kenny had hooked up with some random girl last night. She had invited him back to her place and he had snuck out in the wee hours of the morning, getting home by 4 AM. He was looking forward to sleeping in but it seems like that wasn't going to happen because he had woken up and couldn't get back to sleep. Not only that but Tea was apparently yelling about him leaving the toilet seat up. Usually he was good at remembering to put the seat down. He did live with two girls after all. But he guessed he'd forgotten this time.
He grumbled as he got out of bed, walking into the bathroom. "Okay, sorry, I for-" He stopped when he'd open the door and stared at her. No, it wasn't because she was currently peeing. He'd seen her naked before and there wasn't any embarrassment on his end. The reason he stopped was because she looked different somehow. Older, perhaps?
"Did you get a new haircut last night or something?" he asked
"It's the same as it's always been" She replied with a shrug of her shoulders. In the years she'd been in Madison Valley, she had grown out her hair out to be below her shoulders and she'd kept it styled that way. As she looked at him, she could tell something was off too and she studied him to figure out what it was. After a moment, it hit her. "You look younger than when I saw you yesterday. Is the dome screwing with us again?" She asked, pulling up her underwear as she stood up. Turning around, she flushed the toilet then looked over at him again to get his thoughts.
Kenny bit his lip, frowning a bit. No, it wasn't the hair. It also wasn't the clothes because she just had on a t-shirt and panties. He was pretty sure it wasn't her makeup either. Nothing really changed but she still looked older somehow. "I do?" he asked blinking a bit. "Maybe it is. You look older to me. How old are you?"
"Twenty-five" She replied as sbe brushed past him to head into her room to get ready. Her room had stayed the same over the years, the only thing that changed in it was her clothes. As she moved to get ready, that was what really told her something was going on. "I get rid of most of these clothes like two years ago" She thought outloud as she looked through her closet to find something to wear. She had gotten out of her grunge phase and started dressing more classy as she got older. "What year is it?" She wondered as she pulled out a sundress to throw on, changing right where she stood with the door open. She didn't care if he saw her changing, of course. If things weren't weird right now, she'd made a show of it. Instead, she just tossed off the t-shirt and tossed on the sundress as she waited for his answer.
"Huh, that explains why you look older," Kenny said. "I'm twenty." Which most likely explained why he looked younger to her. He followed her into her room, watching as she got dressed. If they weren't dealing with something right now, he might've looked more than he was. He still couldn't help but check her out a little, though. But not as much as he normally did.
"Must be that time of the month" She said nonchalantly, being so chill about the weirdness that was happening. She'd been in town long enough and seen enough that nothing phased her anymore. Not liking the sundress on her, she took it off and walked over to her dresser topless to grab a pair of shorts and a tanktop on instead. "Usually I don't get effected by these things. The last few times it's been everyone around me. I should have known it would happen to me sooner or later" She told him as she got dressed again.
"Yeah, guess so," Kenny shrugged. He too was pretty indifferent to it. Perks of growing up in a strange town, he suppose. You get used to weird shit and learn to take it in stride. "No, you usually don't," he said. Now that he knew what was going on, this time when she undressed, he did check her out a bit. "So what's different for you? Besides the change in wardrobe," he asked, remembering she mentioned throwing out her grunge clothes a couple years ago.
"I'm not in college anymore, obviously" She replied, a smile on her face when he noticed her checking him out. There was the Kenny she knew and loved. Now in more clothes that she felt more laid back in, she grabbed him on her way out the door and the two of them headed into the kitchen as she talked. "I haven't really done anything with my degree yet but I do work at the tattoo shop full time now. And occasionally I'll do shows at the art gallery for a little side cash" Okay more than side cash because she made quite a bit but that didn't matter.
Kenny nodded as he followed her downstairs. When he got into the kitchen, he realized he was a bit thirsty so he poured himself a glass of orange juice. Maybe he'd make a quick breakfast now that he was awake. "You work at the tattoo shop now? That is awesome." Where he was from, she was only interning at the shop. It was nice to know that she might eventually end up working there someday.
"Grab me some" She requested when she saw him going for a glass. She knew how much he liked his OJ so she figured that's what he was getting and decided she wanted some too. While he got there, she grabbed the cereal and began pouring a bowl for herself. She left it out incase he wanted some and once he was done in the fridge, she got the milk out. "Yeah I do. They liked me so much they decided to hire me on after I graduated college" She told him, diving into the bowl of cereal once she was happily perched up on one of the counters.
"'Kay," he said as he grabbed a glass for her. He also decided to have some cereal himself. He needed to have some breakfast now that he was awake (he didn't feel like he'd be able to go back to bed now) and since it was already out, he figured why not. So he got a bowl and poured himself some cereal. He leaned against the counter beside her, eating a spoonful. "That's cool," he said. He paused for a moment, chewing thoughtfully before he blurted out, "you should give me a tattoo."
She munched on her cereal as she watched him get his own then she smiled at his question. "I can do that. I know exactly what to give you too" Being from the future had it's perks because she already knew things that were going to happen and the outcome. Right now the unpredictable dome was predictable. She dared it to try and surprise her now. "I'll draw it out after we're done eating so you can see" It wouldn't be hard to do considering she saw the tattoo every single day. Doing it from memory would be no issue at all.
Kenny could be impulsive but not so much when it was something permanent like a tattoo. He was even surprised at himself for suggesting it. But he figured why not. "Yeah? Alright, can't wait to see what it is." From what they'd talked about before, it probably had something to do with resurrection. He wasn't sure what it could be and he didn't really care, as long as it wasn't some Chinese symbols or something.
They ate together and chatted about the future and when they were done, she leaned over to put her bowl in the sink. Hopping down from the counter, she walked back to her room and grabbed her sketch pad, laying down on her bed. Within minutes, she had a rough sketch of that tattoo she'd given him already and held it out to him. "We came up with it together"
Kenny followed suit, putting his own bowl and spoon in the sink once he was finished eating. He did pour himself another glass of orange juice and brought it with him to Tea's room. He sat on her bed, setting the glass down on her bedside table and watched curiously as she drew. When she was done, he grabbed the sketchpad from her to get a closer look. "That is pretty cool," he said. He could see himself getting this tattooed on him. Obviously his older self thought the same.
He looked at it again, but he couldn't find anything he wanted to change. He handed the sketchbook back to her. "When can you do it?"
She smiled proudly when he gave her work that kind of critique. Of course, she knew he would like it because he had it on his body in the future and she was the one that gave it to him when he was ready. She was honored to be giving it to him now too. She wasn't at all worried about younger her being upset about it because she was pretty chill. That was something about Tea that had not changed. She was still pretty chill six years later. "I can do it now" She told him with a shrug. It wasn't like she had much else to do in 2017 at that very moment. "We can head down to the shop and I'll explain things to the boss. I'm sure he'll be cool with it"
That was a bit sooner than he thought, but Kenny figured that since he was going to get it in the future, and both he and his future self liked it, why not get it now. So he nodded. "Alright, let's go," he said to her.
