"Maybe she won't remember." Kate didn't want to say it, but it was the best solution for the problem at hand. Sometimes babies could tell when things were wrong. Kate knew Eve was a smart kid, even at her young age, but she was hoping maybe this time they'd stay away.
Keeping her arms wrapped around him, Kate leaned back a bit to look up at him. "And I'm not leaving again. I don't care what it takes, but I'll be damned if that dome takes me away." Selfishly, Kate hoped that more for her own sake than anything else. It was hell back home, and it was not a place she wanted to be. Not now, and not ever. "Even if I have to go up to it, and - I don't know - throw a stick at it."
Reaching up, Kate smoothed a bit of hair back from his face. "What can I do right now, though? Tea? Alcohol? Ice cream?"
