Oh, he was lucky that he had made that cupcake sandwich. Her fingers twitched, and she would have gladly smooshed that icing into his nose from that comment. Kate didn't, though. Instead, she grinned and shook her head. "I appreciate that, you know. The dinner invite." Family dinners were always something Kate's mother had pushed for when she was alive. It was one of the few times that all the Bishops got together, and tried to deal with each other. That was before everything changed.
"It's nice. Especially without the underhanded comments about the food. And how the Louboutin shoe collection at Barney's needs to be updated." Kate shot a glance over to him. "My Dad and sister, by the way. Their topics of conversation were terrible."
It was hard not to roll her eyes so hard just mentioning either of them. Instead, Kate shook her head and allowed herself to lean her shoulder against his. After a moment, Kate slid her arm around his, and almost seemed to sigh in relief. "And promise me you won't give Mitchell that intense stare whenever you actually talk to him, okay?"
