A lot had happened to Johnny in the last month and he was only just now starting to come to terms with all of it. His girlfriend was definitely pregnant and they were definitely going to have a baby and he was going to be someone’s dad, which seemed crazy and impossible but with some time to let it all sink in maybe it wouldn’t be so bad and maybe the people who had told him he wouldn’t completely suck at it were right and it was going to be okay.

Time had helped him kind of come to terms with the fact that his friend was still dating his sister, too. Johnny still didn’t love it and didn’t trust Adam not to wind up breaking his sister’s heart, but that was Sue’s problem and he had plenty of his own to worry about.

So when he was wandering down by the river and saw Adam by the little hut that was where he worked, with the obnoxious yellow paint and everything, he just decided to stop. It had been a while since they’d hung out and been friends. Pretty much since the whole thing with Sue. Dumb sisters, screwing everything up.

He bounded over and cheerily knocked on the side of the tiny window. “Hey man.”

Things had been crazy for Adam the past few months between his housemate nearly dying and then disappearing, half the town ending up in a coma, and then Star's temporary disappearance from town. He was glad that everyone was back and healthy, at least for the moment, and hoped that it would stay that way for a while.

With so many distractions, he hadn't been able to spend as much time as he'd like with Sue and they were still taking things very slow. He hadn't talked to Johnny much lately either and he was pleasantly surprised when he knocked on the window.

"Hey, how's it going?" Adam asked, stepping outside the tiny building so he could have a conversation.

If Johnny had been, or could be, less wrapped up in himself, he would have had opinions about Adam going through all the trouble of trying to date his sister and then not seeing her for a while. It was exactly the kind of jerk move he'd have pulled himself.

"Okay. Boring. You know how this place is." Life was actually pretty far from boring though. Girlfriend still pregnant and still crazy hot made for a very confused Johnny Storm. "What's going on with you? Anything cool?"

They were friends. They should probably talk more than they did. But it was a weird situation with the sister involved.

"No, things are blissfully quiet at the moment," Adam said. Once upon a time, he hated quiet and lived for excitement, but three years in Madison Valley was enough to mostly cure him of that. "Had a crazy run the last couple of months with my housemate and his brother. And then one of my wards got sent home."

Quiet was a blessing for a few days.

"How about you?" Adam asked. "Anything new and exciting in your world?"

Briefly, Johnny's brow creased in confusion. Adam didn't know. Sue hadn't told him. Just as briefly, he considered doing it himself, but thought back to talking things out with Izzy and knowing she hadn't really told anyone herself yet. And if she wanted to still wait a while longer before telling people, he was going to have to keep his mouth shut and not tell anyone else.

So he slapped on a smile, and just leaned comfortably against the little yellow hut. "You mean since I hopped into an alternate universe and killed myself? Nope."

That was kind of more conventionally exciting than having a baby anyway.

Adam remembered seeing something on the network about Johnny helping resolve that issue, but he'd been taking care of Piper's kids by that point and hadn't paid as close attention to it as he probably should have. "You did what now?" he asked.

The whole alternate universe thing kind of freaked him out since Sam told him that he'd embraced his father's demonic influence and followed Lucifer. He didn't think he wanted to know any details about that.

"Hopped into an alternate universe and killed myself," Johnny repeated. "Or my mind at least. It was trippy, man. I was this crazy vampire guy, boning the face twin's wife. Went supernova to burn all the vamps up and went with them."

Obviously turning into a sun wasn't something a vampire was going to get out alive from.

"Izzy's super pissed about the whole thing."

	That was a pretty damn impressive act and Adam reached over to clap his hand on Johnny's shoulder. "Can't say I blame her for being pissed," he said. "I am an actual superhero." People seemed to forget that about Johnny sometimes. He wasn't just an awesome guy with amazing powers. He had a superhero name and a team and a real desire to just help people.

"It was totally safe, though. Says the guy who did the thing to put me there." The part where they were kind of dealing with unknowns hadn't made him so sure about that. But it had been worth the risk.

"Been a while since you had a chance to flex those superhero muscles, huh?" Adam said. For as crazy as this town could be, there wasn't a lot of opportunity for heroics.

Obviously whatever Johnny did worked since everyone woke up from their comas. Some people seemed to be struggling with what they'd seen over there, but at least they were awake and able to deal with it now.

"So long." It was a tragedy, really. Johnny was convinced he was born to be a superhero. Everything in his life had just led up to him being in space at the right time to get his powers and he might be selfish, self-centred and childish, but he was still a good person and helping people felt good.

"There's not really a lot of call for it around here, you know? All the weird crap that happens isn't really something you can fight." Most of the time.

	Adam figured it was probably a good thing that they didn't have much need for superheroes, but there did seem to be a disproportionate number of them around. It was kind of weird that the dome brought them here for no apparent reason. "That's not necessarily a bad thing for the non super heroes," he said. "But I know it's boring for you." "It's not that bad," he shrugged. Most of the time, Johnny didn't even mind being bored as often as he was. He found his own excitement. Or made his own excitement. Sometimes completely by accident. Like his current situation.

Which he was working on being okay with so he wasn't going to think too hard about it.

Or start talking about things he was pretty sure he shouldn't be talking about yet.

"I've been here like three and a half years or something and haven't gone off the deep end yet."

Sometimes it surprised Adam that none of them had gone off the deep end with the insanity that happened around here. "I've been here a little more than three years now," he realize. "It somehow feels like I've been here forever and just got here all at the same time."

He still missed Savannah, but he knew that he'd see her again eventually when he got home. Now, he was focused on Sue and seeing if things might work between them.

He didn't exactly remember when they'd made it official. It had to be at least that long. But it was crazy because when he'd come here, he hadn't been a one girl kind of guy, much less settle down and start a family. He still wasn't sure he was that part. "And then there's you who went from trying to settle down with someone who didn't suck to trying to get with my sister."

Who was clearly a huge step down.

And way too big a step up.

"You planning to make it official with Izzy anytime soon?" Adam asked. After three years, it didn't seem unreasonable to think they might get married. Weddings were always fun. Well, except when vampires attacked them. Though, to be honest, he'd kind of had fun with that too, not that he would have ever admitted that to Rose.

Yes, he was trying to divert the discussion away from him and Sue.
