Chris had spent most of his time the past month at work or Guarding Jill, anything at all to keep him out of the house. Because being at home meant being alone at home. Being at home meant facing the fact that Isaac and Allison were gone.
He could handle Isaac being gone. It hurt like hell, because the young man really had been like a son to him, even if he wasn't sure Isaac had ever actually believed it. But Allison? That one hurt.
It hurt because he knew she went back to being dead. It hurt because she went back after being in town so long. It hurt...
Because it just did.
He wasn't a regular at Lou's, but he'd been there enough over the years that Lou and the staff knew who he was. Which meant that when he came in and took a seat, someone was setting his usual in front of him pretty much right away. He took a sip and glanced around, noticing the guy a couple stools over, who looked like he was drinking for a good hard reason.
"The way you're knocking those back, all you need is a crowd around you chanting 'chug, chug, chug' to complete the ensemble," he said dryly. Chris Argent, ever the smart-ass.
