WHO: Barry Allen and Molly Carpenter WHAT: Being Cute, watching LOST WHEN: Recently WHERE: Molly's place WARNINGS: LOST spoilers? STATUS: Closed/Completed Gdoc
Barry had a lot on his mind. The biggest thing was the fact that he was planning to find a new job. Delivering pizzas had been fine when he’s thought he was only going to be here a short time, but now months had passed and he was still here. He needed something else...some sort of job that allowed him to make a difference. Barry had an internal need to help people and he felt empty and lost in the job he currently had.
So tonight, he’d put in his two weeks notice. He was going to start searching for something better, and hopefully he’d find it before he found himself unemployed.
Showing up at Molly’s, he knocked them stepped inside.
“Molly, you around?” He hoped she wouldn't be angry when he told her.

“Oh my god I can’t tell if this is a flash forward, back or sideways!” A tissue box got thrown at the tv from the couch. “Yeah, I’m here,” Molly answered sullenly. “Hi.”
An episode of Lost was playing. Molly had gotten hooked on the show. And no matter how confusing, stupid or frustrating it got she refused to give up watching it.
***
“Ugh, that show. I watched it for years and then it broke my brain.”
He walked (normal speed) to the couch and sat down beside her, watching for a few minutes.
“So, hey,” he said a bit nervously. “I put in my two weeks.”
***
Molly immediately shifted on the couch to snuggle up against Barry, but her eyes were still on the screen. There was a bowl of popcorn on the floor where she could reach it, and a can of diet on the coffee table.
“I can’t stop. I HAVE to know!” Molly growled but kept watching. “Yeah? How come? Someone pinch your butt or something?”
***
“Nah, nothing like that,” he said, pulling her close as he lost himself a bit in the show despite himself.
“I just...well, I thought I might be able to get some sort of job in the sciences somewhere. That’s what I love. And if i’m not going home immediately, i’d rather do something like that.”
***
“Okay,” Molly said. Obviously she wasn’t anywhere near upset by this news. If he needed help until he got something in his field she could do that. She made enough that she was sitting on a bit of savings, enough to compensate if it came to that.
“Oh my god, I hate Jack!” She wrinkled her nose as she threw a wadded up tissue at the screen where the man being complained about could be seen. “Sawyer is so much better, but Kate’s a dumbass anyway.”
***
“Have you met Juliet yet? I like her better with Sawyer than Kate anyway. Kate’s annoying.”
Yes, Barry had watched LOST father obsessively. It was a good show, if you liked weirdness and ignored the last season.
He quietly breathed a sigh of relief that Molly didn’t seem to care that ge’d quit his job. That was that, then.
***
“Juliet ends up with Sawyer?” Molly lifted up to give Barry and incredulous look. “Why would you DO that?! Hello! Spoilers!” Then she started beating him with one of the throw pillows. The grin on her face proved she wasn’t upset.
***
“Wait I thought you said you were REwatching!” He said, holding up his arms to protect himself from the onslaught. Suddenly, he was gone and almost as suddenly he was behind her, tickling her in the ribs.
***
Molly fell when her swipe with the pillow met with nothing but air. Fortunately it was on the couch instead of off, but then she shrieked for getting tickled. She squirmed to get on her back which only helped insofar as she could see him as he cheated.
“I only got so far because my magics plays hell on technology, dork!” She finally got her arms around his ribs and pulled herself against him. Fight back with boobage. It works.
***
It did. And he liked the boobage. Hey, he was a guy. And he liked her a lot. He leaned down to kiss her and then he was standing in the other side of the room.
“Well, it seems to be working now,” he grinned.
***
Mmmm! Barry kisses! Molly loved Barry kisses. Then he was gone! Molly sighed as she flopped back against the couch. “This place is weird enough that I can use technology without blowing it out and why are you waaaaayyyy over therrrrrre?”
She held out her arms and made grabby hands. “C’mere and tell me about this job thing.”
***
“Because i’m hungry,” he said. Barry was pretty much always hungry, he couldn’t help it. Even with how much he ate in a regular basis, he was ridiculously skinny. “Why don’t we fix something to eat and we can talk about it?”
As if to prove a point, his stomach growled.
***
“Good lord, you’re worse than when my mom was pregnant.” Molly grumbled before she turned off LOST then got up from the couch. “What do you want? And remember, I’m crap in the kitchen.” Unless it was coffee. Molly could make some killer coffee.
She booped him on the nose on her way to the kitchen.
***
“Do you have any of those pizza rolls left?” They were quick and easy and full of calories; Barry’s favorite sort of food. “Or did I already eat the last bag?”
He followed her into the kitchen and sat on a stool.
“Or we could make cookies. Cookies are good. Or brownies. Cake, maybe.”
***
Okay maybe funding Barry’s eating habits all by herself would eat through her savings faster than she thought. Not that she wouldn’t help, but she wouldn’t get out of this apartment any time soon.
“I have pizza rolls. You are not eating cake or cookies for dinner.” She shook her finger at him before getting the pizza pimples (as she called them) out of the freezer. “So is there any place here in town where you can do the kind of work you want to do?”
***
“Honestly, i’m not sure,” he said honestly. “I’m hoping that there might be a place for me in the lab with Banner, Simmons and Fitz. I mean, the things I know are kind of different so maybe there’s a niche for me there.”
He watched her as she put the plate of food in the oven, his stomach growling again.
“I will find a job, Molly. Soon. Even if it’s not ideal.”
He wouldn’t let her carry the financial burden alone.
***
“I know you will,” Molly said. She smiled at Barry as after she shut the oven door then moved so she could put her arms around him. “You have a huge sense of responsibility it was never in doubt. I get wanting to do something you like and if I can help I will.”
She touched the tip of her nose to his. “Even if that means I have to cram the freezer full of pizza rolls.”
***
Barry shifted just enough to kiss her nose, then smiled at her.
“You’re amazing, did you know that?”
***
Molly giggled as a sweet smile formed on her face. “Only because I have someone who brings out the best in me.” She felt so lucky she had Barry in her life. Back home she had resigned herself to being on her own. She’d found happiness in Madison Valley and hoped she never went back.
She put her head down on Barry’s shoulder as she hugged herself against him in a sudden bout of emotion.
***
Barry hugged her back. He felt the same way, really. Back home, he’d been in love with someone, sure, but she’d never seen him the way he wanted her to. It had felt good to move on from that, to someone who really looked at him like he was the only one for her. It made him feel...special. As if something inside of him was finally right.
“I’m just glad that you’re happy,” he said softly.
***
Her arms tightened around Barry as a sweet smile came to her face. “I am,” Molly said then pulled back enough to touch her nose to his. “But you won’t be if your pizza rolls burn.” She prepared for a swift abandonment.
