Who: Ash Lynburn and Marco Diaz What: Match Up WHere: park When: Evening, sometime last week before demon!Dean hit town Warnings: Laser Puppy! Status: Closed, Complete
Taking the laser puppy for a walk was always an adventure. He might be small, but he was strong. And it was more like the puppy took Marco for a walk, rather than the other way around. Marco didn’t mind, though. He loved the puppy, and their adventures were always fun and exciting. Marco liked excitement.
At least until the puppy had him running so fast that he was all arms and legs and awkwardness that he stumbled and fumbled and collided with someone. He lost his hold on the leash, and even though he knew the puppy wouldn’t go far, he scrambled to get hold of it again. Getting the leash was more important at the moment than apologies, because the laser puppy could be used as a weapon in the wrong hands.
Not only that, but Star would be angry with him if he lost the little guy.

Ash had a habit of accidentally running into things when he was out taking pictures; sometimes when attempting to line up the perfect shot, he didn't always look where he was going.
This time though, he was looking where he was going. And still, he collided with someone.
Who was walking a dog with laser eyes.
“Whoa!” He quickly righted himself. “You okay?”
***
The puppy’s laser eyes hit a nearby weed and singed it. Whoops. Marco scooped him up. “Yeah, we’re fine. Aren’t we?” He pet the puppy between the ears, and the puppy wiggled in his arms until Marco set him down.
“Sorry. We got a little carried away,” he said with a shrug. He had to shrug it off. He couldn’t get too upset when things went wrong, or he’d never leave the house. “Are you okay?”
***
“Yeah....” Ash said, eyes wide at the show of...something. “Unless I actually fell down and knocked my head and am hallucinating a dog with laser eyes that just took out that clump of bushes. I didn’t, did I?”
Because that was cool.
***
Marco looked at the singed bush and gave a sheepish grin. “No, he really did that.” His expression turned to a slight frown. “Bad puppy,” he said, and the little dog in his arms yipped and wagged his tail.
“He’s a laser puppy.” Marco explained. “Star made him. She has a wand.” A lot of people in town knew about Star and her wand by now.
***
There were varying degrees of knowing, and Ash only knew of Star vaguely. He had a fuzzy impression of her being a really perky young girl - not that he was entirely old himself. He was probably only a few years older than her, but sometimes he felt older than he was.
“I can’t say that’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen coming out of a wand,” he said, because really, what else could you say to that?
***
“Back home, she made a whole bunch, but here she’s only allowed to have one. It would be too much for Sam and Adam, that’s who we live with, if there were a bunch of laser puppies around the house,” he said with a grin. “And no one else in town needs to have them,” he added. Because they were legit lasers. Not something most people needed on hand.
The puppy yipped and wagged his tail happily as he lunged at the grass.
“Anyway, hi. I’m Marco.” Because names were probably nice to know, since they were having a conversation and all.
***
“Ash,” came the bemused reply. He offered his hand. “May I ask why people back home need laser puppies?”
Because if Marco said people here didn't need them, it stood to reason that people needed them where he came from. Either that, or his friend really liked making laser puppies.
***
“Oh, no one needs them back home either,” Marco said. “But Star made a few of them and my parents let her keep them all.” He shrugged. Star’s creations usually didn’t stick around. The laser puppies were the exception because they were cute. Aside from the lasers, at least.
“Other than their lasers, they’re just like regular puppies. You have to feed them and make sure they have water, and take them out so they don’t make a mess on the floor.” Marco really didn’t like that part.
***
“Seems like the margin of error would be much narrower when it comes to these ones,” Ash remarked. If they wanted to go outside and weren't being taken out, Ash could see them opening up a hole in the wall of themselves. Maybe they just had to go through more rigorous doggy training.
“But...uh...I guess they make good pets otherwise?” He figured this “Star” wouldn't keep them around otherwise.
***
“They are.” Marco nodded. “I mean, I think dogs are good pets anyway.” He bent down and picked the puppy up again. He was rewarded with a wet lick across his face. “We should head back, though, becaore Star starts wondering if we got lost or something,” because even worse than being hit with a laser from the puppy was being hit with a blast from Star’s wand.
“It was really nice talking to you, Ash,” he said. Marco was a good kid. He had manners. Mostly.
***
Ash was really curious about this Star person now; he'd have to keep an eye out for her posts on the network. “Okay. Good to meet you, Marco. Good luck with the puppy.”
