Summer made things grow. Sarissa had known that all her life, just as she knew that Winter made things freeze. But somehow, knowing it in theory hadn't prepared her for actually knowing things in practice. She didn't consciously make the flowers around her perk up and grow brighter and more lush, nor did she consciously bring in the bugs that liked nibbling on the flowers. She was starting to get a better handle on both of these, those, and when a large millipede crawled out of one pot of flowers and started making its way towards another. "Hey!" Sarissa said sharply. And although the insect couldn't understand the word, it registered the voice and command of its Lady. "Out," she told it. "You don't belong here. Go find a nice plot of earth to burrow into." Obediently, the millipede changed its course and started scuttling for the door. "And don't scare any customers," Sarissa called behind it, but it was too late - the door was opening. |
