One of the best things about living in Madison Valley was the food. There was no doubt about that. There was so much of it, and it was so plentiful, and there were so many different kinds that she hadn't had the chance to test yet even though she'd been here for months.
It also made cooking fun, when you didn't have to scrounge for what you could. She could use all sorts of fancy ingredients, just like she assumed they had in the Capitol, and she could make food that wasn't just something to help a person survive, but food that was actually yummy and exciting. Or, well, at least to her it was exciting. Anything that reminded her that she wasn't in Panem any longer was exciting.
She'd been at the grocery store for some time now, and was almost ready to go. She just needed to pick up a few spices to go with the ingredients she'd purchased. Trouble was, spices were really the biggest luxury, and she knew very little about them. Oh, she knew that they made everything a whole lot better, but she didn't know really how to use them, or how to buy them. So she was standing in the aisle, staring, a bit lost.
Thankfully, before too long, another woman joined her in the aisle, who seemed like she knew a little better what she was doing.
"Excuse me..." she said, only a little sheepishly. "I was making a lasagna tonight for me and my boyfriend, and I was wondering if you could tell me which spices I should get to make it perfect?"
