Alex D & OTA
By now, Alex was friendly enough with many of the people who'd attend today's cookout. That was mostly because of Kara's connection to a lot of them. She gladly thought of them as friends now. She was also glad to have the opportunity to pay respects to fallen soldiers. She also understood the importance of continuing with life, including get-togethers involving lots of food and good company.
A year ago, she was still so new to this place and still having a hard time settling. Kara hadn't even been here, yet. What a difference a year made. Alex still wasn't quite as settled as she'd like, but things were much better. She was definitely happier than she was a year ago. She had no problem being here commemorating an important day with family and friends.
