Who: Ian Gallagher and Dawn Summers
What: Milkshakes
When: Friday afternoon
Where: Hinkles
Warnings: None/TBD
Status: Closed, Incomplete
Ian walked into Hinkles about fifteen minutes before two and got a table. It was getting hot out and he'd ridden his bike all the way from the farmhouse, so he was a little sweaty and hoped he didn't smell. He'd showered and put on a clean shirt before coming, so he should be OK, but it still would be nice to have a few minutes to cool off before Dawn arrived.
He was really looking forward to meeting her. He'd talked to a lot of his fellow "refugees" online, but hadn't met any in person yet, other than a few at the farmhouse. And none of those were kids his own age. Dawn was the first one his age and she was probably going to be in his class next fall. She seemed nice and normal on the network (as much as anything was normal here), and he was hoping they could be friends so that he would know at least one person in school here.
School. In the fall. It was weird to be thinking like he'd actually be here that long. He'd accepted it almost too easily. He missed his family terribly and still wanted to get back to them, but he had to admit that it was nice to have a break from all the shit going on back on the south side. Especially Mickey and his whore wife. Every time he thought about Mickey he found himself back on the edge of tears, so he firmly shut the door to that and concentrated on settling into his new life here instead.
He looked over the menu, trying to decide what kind of milkshake to get, while he kept an eye on the door waiting for Dawn to arrive.
