WHO: Lissa Dragomir and Jill Mastrano WHAT: A sisterly chat WHEN: This evening WHERE: A Restaurant WARNINGS: TBD STATUS: Closed/Started in Gdocs, will finish in comments
Spirit was such a twitchy element. It seemed that the more you used it, the more you wanted to use it...yet the more you did, the more it ate away at your mind. Since she’d gone off her meds soon after arriving here, Lissa was feeling her magic more and more. The good and the bad. She’d spent several evenings alone crying through her Spirit crashes, but she comforted herself with the knowledge that she had not started cutting yet. If it was just crying, that was something Lissa could - and would - handle. Especially if it meant saving lives.
She’d scheduled brunch with Jill this morning and was determined to look happy and healthy. She spent extra time on her hair and makeup, wearing the brightest shirt she could to match the spring day. Then she set off for the trendy little boutique restaurant where they’d decided to meet.
When she saw Jill she waved and took a seat across from her, smiling brightly. She could only hope that her natural, Spirit-linked charisma could cover up any flaws in appearance or behavior.
“Good morning,” she smiled brightly.

It had been a little strange at first, even weird, getting to know Lissa the second time around. Jill wasn’t going to deny that, and she’d as much as told Lissa that. But at the same time, she was grateful for the fact that Lissa wanted to know her, was willing to give her time to adjust to the fact that she didn’t remember having been there before. And that? Was really all that mattered.
And now? They were sisters again. Which meant that, like sisters, Jill was able to read Lissa as soon as her sister sat down. Not like another Spirit user would’ve been able to, of course, but just like another person could.
But for the moment, Jill just eyed her with a little suspicion because maybe she was wrong. She’d see.
“Good morning yourself,” she said with a smile.
***
“I love Spring,” she said, looking around her. “Even if the sunshine does make me sick.” She winked at her sister, as if the fact that they were vampires was a secret between the two of them. “But I love the birds and the flowers and the warm weather, don’t you?”
Yes, she was way too chipper. She thought perhaps she should maybe cut it back, but she’d committed now.
***
Jill was even more suspicious of her sister now, honestly. All that meant at the moment that she was going to keep an eye on her sister for the rest of their meal.
“I do kind of like it,” she admitted. “Even if being out in it is kind of a pain in the ass. Because it is nice to sit inside on a nice day with the window open. Nice breeze going, birds chirping. Unless you get that bunch of birds outside your window that makes noises at four in the morning and just won’t shut up.” She grinned. “Those kinda suck.”
***
Lissa smiled, a bit too broadly. “I like those too,” she said. “I just love to hear them sing.” She stopped; there was only so far you could take a conversation about birds and their song. Even as Spirit-drunk as she was, she could tell she was overdoing it.
“So how is Jordan?”
Yes, changing the subject would be a good idea about now.
***
“You can have my stupid birds, then,” Jill grumbled. But she was distracted by the subject change, or at least distracted enough to let it go.
“It’s… he’s good. A little unsettled at the moment, a little worried, but it’s not about us.” And she was worried, too, but she wasn’t going to say anything. Not when Lissa was going to be able to read her aura anyway.
And not when her sister was already off enough today.
*** Lissa wasn’t as good at reading auras as Adrian, but she could tell that her sister was worried about something, and that simply would not do.
“What is it, Jill? What’s wrong? Can I help?”
***
“I… don’t know?” Jill wasn’t trying to be evasive, she just wasn’t sure. “You know Jordan’s a hellhound. Well, I’m not sure exactly how much you know about that -- I mean, I’m still learning. But the long and short of it is, the hound can take over sometimes. It’s potentially dangerous when that happens, yeah. That’s why we’re careful with my Guardian rotation, why you’ll always see Chris with me if I’m spending any time with Jordan.”
Running her fingers through her hair, trying to think.
“Because he and Chris are both from Beacon Hills, and Chris knows how to deal with the hellhound if he has to. We know Garin probably could, too, if it came right down to it, but we feel a lot safer with Chris.” She shook her head.
“Anyway. He told me a few days ago that he blacked out, that one moment he was on one side of the street and then the next moment, he was on the other side of the street. And that blacking out is what happens when the hellhound takes over.
***
That definitely didn’t sound good at all, and Lissa frowned a little, thoughtfully.
“But nothing bad happened, right? I mean, nobody got hurt, he didn’t get hurt...nothing’s out of place?”
Blackouts were never good, though, no matter what the reason. And she was even more concerned because of Jill’s safety.
“Maybe I could talk to him. Maybe I could get inside his head and see what’s going on?”
