Who: Kate Bishop and John Mitchell
Where: John's place
When: Early hours of Monday (May 1) [Backdated]
What: Kate is checking in on Mitchell and Eve with all the craziness going on
Warnings: Probably none, but will update if needed!
Status: In-Progress (Started in GDoc, finishing in comments)
Kate had lost track of time a while ago. The last she had looked at a clock was when she had met with Sam, gotten coffee, and they had started another search round. They had gone their separate ways when the sun had disappeared behind the trees, and Kate continued her search on foot. The woods had been the worst to check. She could take back alleys and dark hallways any day.
As promised, she hauled herself over to Mitchell’s. While she had insisted on coming to check on Eve, Kate was also checking on him. She hadn’t gotten the chance to talk to him after briefly chatting with toddler Eve. Now with this Tom fellow arriving, Kate wanted to be certain everything would be alright.
Was it too late? She didn’t want to wake them. Especially Eve knowing how difficult it was for Mitchell to handle her. Of course, knowing what Mitchell was…”Does he sleep?” she asked herself, rubbing a hand against her chin before shaking her head. Knocking against the door, Kate waited. If needed, she would try a few more times before going into full worry and panic mode. Her normally casual and calm demeanor had been squashed the moment she had found out people had gone missing. It made her tense, anxious, and more likely to leap into action than take a moment to breathe.

Mitchell did sleep, and he would happily tell her so. He slept and he ate and everything else normal people did. The blood lust and the exceptionally pale skin, and the fact he already had a headstone with the date of his death inscribed on it were the things that made him different.
He wasn’t sleeping when she knocked. He’d just been in to check on Eve, who was sleeping. And it was a simple detour to go and answer the door. He checked to see who it was before he opened the door. He had superhuman strength, but the fact he wasn’t drinking blood made him weak by vampire standards, and with everything going on in town right then, he wasn’t taking any chances.
Seeing that it was Kate, he opened the door and stepped back to let her in. “Hey.”

“I’m sorry it’s so late,” she said, heading inside. “I hope you don’t mind if I just leave this here for a second.” Kate held up her bow and pulled her quiver over her head. Setting it down by the door, she glanced past Mitchell to where she knew Eve was sleeping. “Everything good back there? No trouble?” Trouble with Eve was typical, Kate knew that. Trouble with others, especially new faces, was something else.
“I did a sweep around the area, but it’s quiet. Which could be both good and bad. Although I guess nothing is better than bad things.” What she wanted was some good news in the form of the missing folks.
“How are you? Hanging in there?” Kate had to rewind for a moment. She placed a hand against Mitchell’s arm and offered a tired smile.
