Who: Alex Danvers, Diana, and Helena What: Another kid! When: Saturday Morning Where: Diana's place Warning: Low Status: Closed/Completed Gdoc
Alex only had to deal with one kid for the first few days of this invasion. Today, there was a new arrival. This time, she wasn't as surprised by who her other mother was. Seems in some universe, Alex and Diana adopted the girl after some sort of villain attack. She didn't get all the information right away. She figured she'd bring the girl to Diana's apartment and they'd sort everything out then.
That's what she told Diana in a message, again, not wanting to just spring this on her with no warning. She told her the girl's name, Helena. That was pretty much the only information she had.
"Mom, are you okay?" Helena asked as they were on their way.
"Yeah, just processing," she said. "I'm guessing you know this is another universe?"
She nodded. "I think so? I mean, this isn't National City...or even Central City. That's where these portal breaches happen a lot."
Alex just shook her head and chuckled. "Of course they do."
When they finally arrived, Alex gently knocked on the door and waited.

Diana had been a bit surprised by the children showing up, but she wasn't displeased by any of the children who had arrived, knowing her as mom. She was surprised that another had shown up a few days later to Alex, clearly not a child biologically theirs, but calling them both mom nonetheless. She could admit to being curious and that she was looking forward to receiving them both. Aiden was out with her friends, so it would be just the three of them.
She had a meal going for herself when she'd heard from Alex, and it hadn't taken much to make it big enough for three. The knock at the door came just as she was finishing setting the table. Diana opened the door for them with a smile and held her arms out for her daughter.
"Hello, Helena," she greeted warmly. Even though she didn't know the girl, if she called her mother, that was enough for her. That she was raising a child with Alex in some world made her smile, too. It was good to know that somewhere, somehow, she was able to be for the other woman what she needed.
"How are you both?"
***
Alex was about to say something when Helena ran over to Diana to give her a big hug. "I'm good Mama. Because you're both here now."
She was a little closer to Diana, but that was simply because she wanted to be a warrior like her. Not that her other mother wasn't heroic either. She couldn't have asked for cooler, loving, and strong mothers. The fact that they rescued her and decided to raise her said it all, really.
"I think Barry and his team were messing with portals again," she said. "I know they'll come get me soon. Aunt Kara would break through any breach, I'm sure. But I know I'll be safe with you in the meantime."
Alex was impressed at how well spoken she was about such things. "It'll probably be a few days, but yeah, you'll be safe here."
She smiled. It was nice knowing that in all these other realities, she and Kara were still sisters.

Diana hugged Helena tightly and took a deep breath, taking in the scent of her daughter's hair. She didn't want to forget. "I'm glad you're well," she replied, pressing a kiss to her temple before stepping aside to let both women in. She couldn't help but chuckle as her daughter lay the blame at Barry's feet.
"He's quite overzealous sometimes," she agreed, though she was more inclined to believe that this was Madison Valley's handiwork and not the speedster's. "We'll have to ask him, and your Aunt Kara, when we see them next." Diana glanced at Alex to see if she'd told Helena about the others in town.
She led the way into the kitchen and gestured for both women to sit and dig in. "I thought a meal might be a good way to get to know one another," Diana explained. "I admit to being very curious about how you came to be our daughter."
***
Alex nodded. "Yeah, that would be great. Thanks for setting this all up."
"Yes, thank you Mama, it looks good." The girl clearly had good manners. "Mom says I can visit Aunt Kara soon. And a lot of other people. She told me I have other siblings, too. And cousins."
So yes, Alex had filled her in on some of what was going on.
"In my world, you two saved me after a bad metahuman ravaged the city. I was about to be hit with some shrapnel, but you stopped it with your shield," Helena explained, looking right at Diana when she mentioned that last part.
Alex wasn't at all surprised that Diana would do that. She would never let an innocent person be hurt like that.
"Your mom's pretty cool like that," she said with a little grin meant for Diana.
***
Diana smiled warmly at their thanks. "Let us hope it tastes as good," she replied, though it was entirely in jest. She knew how to cook well enough that she wouldn't make any of them ill, though she was much more skilled as a warrior than anything else.
"There are a number of relatives, some of whom you may or may not be familiar with, currently within the confines of Madison Valley," Diana added as they took their seats around the table. Hearing of the tale that explained her presence in their lives, she knew it had been a serious confrontation to warrant the use of her shield. She rarely used anything aside from her fists and her lasso, save for extreme circumstances.
"I am glad I was there to protect you, Helena, and that we were able to open our home to you." They did their best to minimize damage but sometimes that was easier said than done when facing supervillains and metahumans bent on causing as much destruction as possible. Diana didn't miss the grin Alex sent her way and smiled in return. "Though I think we are the lucky ones, to have you in our lives."
Even just knowing the girl for a few brief minutes, she firmly believed it. Daughters were meant to be celebrated and encouraged, a blessing bestowed on them by the Gods if there was ever a question of it. "Were you very young when we adopted you?"
Helena nodded. "I was only four. The social worker handling my case had ten other kids she'd just taken on so you refused to hand me over. Uncle Bruce was able to help you get all of the paperwork figured out," she explained easily, since the others loved teasing Diana for her rather heated exchange with the social worker that day.
***
Alex was very interested in hearing all of this. It almost reminded her of when she was fourteen, when Clark brought Kara to live with her. It wasn't too much of a surprise hearing that she continued that tradition of taking in orphans who didn't have anyone else.
"It sounds like everything worked out for us as a family," she said fondly. "It's good to have friends and family who can take care of the paperwork."
Alex was much more the type to skip over all the red tape and deal with consequences later. She suspected Diana had a similar approach.
***
Diana chuckled at that. She could only imagine what she'd said to the social worker, since she generally was only good at being diplomatic when she had adequate time to prepare. After battle, with a small child in her arms? Bruce's lawyers were much kinder, no doubt.
"Definitely," Helena agreed, before digging into her dinner once more. "It all worked out pretty well. It's a little weird sometimes, having Wonder Woman for a mom, but the press mostly leaves us alone. I'm old news now, just like you and Mom." She didn't really remember a lot of it, but sometimes it resurfaced every now and then.
That didn't surprise Diana very much at all. The American media were far too interested in things that weren't their business. "I am sure your Uncle Bruce helped with that, as well."
"And Uncle Clark and Aunt Lois," Helena chimed in.
"Yes, I am not surprised they helped as well." Diana loved her friends a great deal, more so now that she knew what they'd done to help her daughter grow up relatively normal. "Your Uncle Bruce is here, though likely not as you remember him." She glanced at Alex and then to Helena. "And Madison Valley saw fit to bring a few more daughters of mine, from possible futures."
***
Alex was pleased to hear that Helena was completely surrounded by people who loved her in her world, so many people who would protect her. Even though she didn't have that life here, she felt blessed to have helped raise her in some universe.
"That's okay," Helena said, not seemingly bothered to know she had siblings here. She understood all too well how this worked. "Maybe I can meet her, and Mom's other daughter."
Alex nodded. "I am sure we can arrange that."
***
Diana was relieved to know that Aiden's and Andromachi's appearances wouldn't be an issue. No doubt there were many weird things that had happened in Helena's life that would have prepared her for this. It was good that she had a bunch of teenagers, so far. Helena's appearance proved to her that it was likely she could have additional children appear.
"Most certainly," Diana agreed readily. "Aiden will no doubt be home soon, she is my daughter with a man named Nick Sorrentino. Then there is Andromachi, my daughter with your Uncle Bruce. There seem to be a large number of children in Madison Valley that have yet to be conceived." She thought it was an interesting turn of events, if enough to make her think. Aiden would never exist, not when the moment she'd been conceived had long since passed. Still, it was good to know that she could provide a girl a good life without having a relationship with Nick.
Helena grinned. "You don't have any sons do you? I feel like you'd never have sons."
Diana chuckled. "No, no sons to speak of yet." Which was a good thing, because she would favor her daughters no matter how hard she tried not to. "Only teenagers who give their fathers headaches. I suppose we are lucky then, that we are both your mother and therefore free of it from you."
"Oh no, I give you both plenty of headaches, don't worry, Mama," Helena replied easily before she took another bite of her dinner. "Wait, does this mean I don't have to go to school this week?"
***
Alex chuckled. She definitely sounded like a kid. Though she liked school mostly, even Alex liked having days off when she was a kid. It was part of growing up, she supposed. Their lives were clearly weird and illogical in a lot of ways, but that was one constant, it seemed.
"Since you're not exactly enrolled at the school here, there's no reason you should go," Alex said. It made sense to her. "Besides, you'll return right at the time you left, so you wouldn't have missed school anyway."
She glanced over at Diana. "What do you think?"
Alex really wasn't trying to make all the decisions without consulting her child's other mother.
***
"I think skipping school in favor of spending time with your mothers and your half-siblings and cousins is a wonderful idea," Diana agreed. She couldn't say she favored formal education in the way Madison Valley and Man's world prefered, so it was very likely that she easily allowed for her daughter to skip her studies more frequently than not.
Helena had been expecting as much, and just grinned. "That sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Does this mean you guys will skip out on work, too? At least a little?" She liked when they got to play hooky and just hang out, doing anything from catching a movie in the afternoon to going shopping to hitting up the park for an afternoon.
Diana considered it for a moment, reviewing her schedule in her mind. "I could perhaps rearrange some things. It will depend on if any of the others choose to take time off as well." For she wouldn't take away an opportunity for her coworkers to spend time with their children if she could help it.
***
"I think I can can get a few days off," Alex said, already planning to ask for that time off. She wanted to spend as much time as she could with her kids, even if they were from an alternate universe.
She thought this was actually kind of nice, even though she wasn't sure just yet if she'd ever be mother material. The fact that two happy kids showed up proved that maybe she could be. Plus, it was nice spending time like this as a family, no matter how unconventional it might be.
