"Order for me," Inari said over her shoulder. She grinned at Bobby, then disappeared around a corner, headed for the ladies' room. Only when she walked through the bathroom door, she found herself outside, instead. She blinked in confusion, looked around as if she were looking for something specific. She was definitely not where she was supposed to be.
A man approached her and gave her an envelope and the Welcome To Madison Valley spiel. She stood there in shock as the suit walked away. It took a good five minutes or more for her to feel like she was even breathing again. She'd been given a phone, and after tucking the envelope under her arm, she attempted to call her sister Lara. The number was out of service. Inari frowned, and tried Bobby's cell. She got the same message. She muttered something about the third time being a charm and tried to call her brother, but Thomas' phone seemed to be disconnected too.
She sighed, and sat down on a nearby bench. She had no idea what to do, where to go, or anything. She didn't know what happened to Bobby or the restaurant. Nothing made sense to her, and she just sat there scared and alone for a good half hour or more before she decided to check out the phone a little further.
She discovered a network, and a couple of familiar names. Thomas, Justine, and Harry were all listed, as well as Molly Carpenter. She couldn't find Lara's name anywhere, but she felt relieved to see her brother's name. She didn't hesitate to call his number, and the elation she felt when she heard his voice was immeasurable.
Twenty minutes later, he was standing in front of her with arms out to embrace her. She moved into his arms and melted against him. "I'm so glad you're here, Thomas," she murmured against his chest. He just nodded and took her home and explained the facts about Madison Valley as best he could.
