No one was around to watch Aurelia, so Octavia bundled her up and headed out. She wanted to go into the woods, and just forget about the world for a while. She carried the infant in a harness that held her to Octavia's back, and allowed her to see the world around her. She'd be walking soon. Octavia wasn't sure how she felt about that, honestly. For now, though, she wasn't able to walk on her own, and was content to be in the harness.
Octavia made her way out to the edge of town, and then into the woods. It was familiar territory for her. In many ways, she was more comfortable in the wild than in the civilized town. She preferred tree to buildings, flowing streams and standing ponds to cars and the smell of bulk cooked foods.
She sighed when she headed toward the river and saw there was someone already there. "Lexa," she said. It would have been easier to turn and walk away.
