Who: Edmund Hewlett and you! What: Being baffled by modern life Where: Grocery store. Not Walmart, that place stresses him out. When: Monday, midday Warnings: None as of yet Status: Open!
Edmund had been in Madison long enough to figure his way around all right, but sometimes modern life still managed to be somewhat overwhelming. He'd learned quickly that the Walmart market was too much for him - Too many bright colors, too many people, and far too large. He didn't know how anyone could make it through without developing some kind of headache... Even the smallest grocery market in town was a little difficult, but he was getting used to it.
There were certainly positives about purchasing food in Madison, though. The variety of fresh foods available even out of season was exciting and wonderful, and he was even more pleased to see that most of the packages of other kinds of food had directions for their preparation. Ella taught him a little, bless her, but he'd never had to cook for himself before. He was stumbling along through the process, learning bits and pieces here and there. Along with books from the library, food that came with instructions on the packaging was indispensable to his continued culinary achievements (if one could call them that).
But occasionally, Edmund still ran into trouble. The recipe he was hoping to tackle next called for a small amount of oil... Just oil. That seemed simple enough, but as he stood hopelessly in front of shelves stocked with several different kinds of oil, he realized he had no idea which was the right one. He set his little basket of ingredients down and picked up two different bottles, hoping the back of each might yield some sort of assistance.
