The tone, the look, none of it bothered Rosa. She just watched the other woman with an equally flat expression. Rather than intimidated, she actually respected it. Someone who was willing to stand up to her was rare in her life. Annoyed body language was kind of her default, though; it wasn't anything personal, just the way that she was.
"Yeah. It sucks for everyone." She got it. She hadn't asked, though. She hadn't needed to be told. No one would choose to be here. "Is that really what people make small talk about around here?"
Couldn't they make small talk about her stupid house furnishings? Like normal people?
