She'd only gone to the apartment she'd been assigned because it got old when the sun went down. And without Lucas and Toto to keep her warm, she knew she would freeze to death if she slept under the trees. But when morning came, she was up and out of the apartment faster than lightning.
She had a credit card with $1000 preloaded on it. That wasn't much, not really, not in the world today. But Dorothy didn't need much. She'd survived in Oz, after all, with very little. She just had to be frugal. She was headed to the store, decided to take a walk through the park.
One thing about Oz, the scenery had been breathtaking. Of course, she'd been fighting for her life much of the time she was there, so she hadn't really been able to enjoy it. The landscape of the park didn't really compare, but it was beautiful in its own right. Especially when a moderate sized german shepherd ran toward her.
She knelt down, and called out "Toto!". She fell back on her butt laughing as the dog showered her face with kisses. "Toto! I thought I'd never see you again." She pulled off her gloves so she could bury her fingers in his thick mane of hair.
She was completely oblivious to anyone and everything around her at the moment.
