Gibbs told her that he wouldn't make her start school until Monday, so Emily was taking advantage of her free time to look around and try to figure out what the deal was with this crazy town. A tiny part of her wasn't convinced that she hadn't somehow slipped into a coma of her own, though she was glad to hear that her dad had woken up for real. He'd talked to her for a couple of minutes, long enough for her to pass a message along, but then was out again, leaving her worried and trying not to spill every secret she had to Grace. For a shrink, she was pretty cool though and Em wondered why Gibbs wasn't dating her. Of course, it didn't matter around here since Grace was back in DC.
The town was... cute. For a girl who grew up in the DC Metro area, it was somewhat lacking, but maybe that wasn't such a bad thing. It was a lot quieter than home, that was for sure, and when she turned on the morning news, there weren't dozens of stories about violence and murder. Maybe she could actually relax a little bit here instead of being constantly terrified that she was going to lose her remaining parent and everyone else she loved.
According to the map she picked up at the Welcome Center, there was a candy store around here somewhere. Emily was a teenage girl and that meant she loved chocolate. Plus she had that card with a thousand bucks in her pocket. She grinned when she spotted the sign up ahead and made a beeline for the door. Someone else was approaching from the other direction and she paused to let them enter first.
