Pepper & Merlin
"Ah, yes, I am not human, and I was not born... with a normal gender, or sex. Much of my childhood was being trained in assuming shapes, both male and female, to learn what I could of both. I walk much of the time as a male out of habit, for when i was young, it was not safe for a woman to stand in the world and walk it's length, and i was seeking to aid all I could. But I have spent as much time as a woman as I have as a man, through the ages."
She smiled ruefully. "I know the legends don't mention it, but that is, I think, because most of them were written by men, and their pride would be pricked if a woman were to do all I did." Her snort showed how she felt about such idiots.
"Aye. I am yet new here. I find it somewhat disconcerting to be imprisoned so, and yet, for the moment, it has not been unpleasant otherwise? And the people have been welcoming, so I find... as yet, I do not object strongly." Her grin was wider now and she flicked the hat that, while not there a moment before, now sat atop her head.
