Of course, then she went and pissed him off. None of that was news to her, though. Sure, she'd been doing a lot better before the new year, but this was her. Sleep deprived, disheveled, and disoriented all over. Now she was just upset on top of that, but it wasn't like she was going to kill herself or anything. She just wanted to get back to work.
Luckily, the bell signaling the end of the round sounded. Jane didn't even bother saying goodbye or good night before heading to her next table.
