Hey guys! So maybe this is silly, since I'm literally in my home right now (even if I don't usually spend a lot of time in Indiana?) but I gotta tell you, even heroes get homesick and I'm starting to feel
kinda...
you know??
And I think it's because I miss my friends. Like, are they all out there past the dome doing okay? Do they even know I'm gone? I'm not REALLY gone, I'm right here but - Y'all know what I mean!
So here's the thing: I wanna know about your friends. Tell me about your friends back home, or here, or wherever they are.
I'll start, and I'm gonna start with Japan because it's the New Years and boy, that dude freaking loves New Year's.
So Japan's this guy, right? And he's way older than me, like WAY older. Not as old as China, I think, but definitely like England level old. Not that he looks like it, of course, but none of us really do... Anyway! He's got a lot of super cool people and super cool stories and history and stuff. His house is great. Every time I visit we have a good time. We used to not be friends, but we are now. That's kind of a long story that most of you probably already know, but trust me when I say that we're bros now.
Sometimes we'd spend New Year's together, and we'd play games together and get really blasted on sake and then in the morning go down to the temple and get fortunes. I can't read Japanese like at all but he'd always read it for me, and if it was bad we'd tie it to a tree or a little fence-y thing so it wouldn't happen. I'm not crazy superstitious, but it always made me feel kinda good, you know?
Oh! And we'd eat this squishy stuff he made in his backyard. I don't remember what it's called, but you make it from rice, you have to beat it like a million times and then it's squishy and good.
Japan's kind of quiet, but he's really nice and crazy good at video games. He always gives really good advice, and he's super level-headed. He's a good cook and a really good artist. A lot of times he seems really serious, but then he tells some super grandpa-level joke and shows you his anime toys and you realize he's not as serious as he looks. We have a lot of fun showing each other around our land. I have a bunch of cherry trees in DC that he gave me, and if you go in the springtime they're all in bloom and it's super pretty. SUPER pretty.
