Who: Michael and Molly Carpenter, Harry Dresden What: Telling Michael about events in his future Where: Michael's place When: When Molly gets her nerve up Warnings: Will update if necessary
Molly was understandably nervous. She wasn't apprehensive about talking to her dad on principle, but because of the subject. Somehow Michael hadn't experienced the last several years of Molly's life. He didn't know about Chiten Itza, and how rescuing Maggie had nearly cost Molly her life, her sanity at the very least. He didn't know about what Harry did after saving his daughter, he didn't know how Molly had ended up at her current post,or how she had taken on the Mantle of The Winter Lady.
How was she going to tell him that? The rest sounded easy in comparison. The rest was a cake walk. But that last bit, that part where she was The Winter Lady to Harry's Winter Knight wasn't going to be easy to say, or easy to bear. Harry didn't like it any more than Molly did, it wasn't something either of them would have chosen, but they had been pieces on a chess board, their destiny planned out to the letter.
Molly drew a deep breath. She found a small smile for her dad. he looked so good, so healthy and whole, so much the father she'd always known. She loved him so much. She'd always been a Daddy's Girl, and if her life hadn't taken so many twists and turns, she never would have strayed far from his open and accepting arms. How was she ever going to tell him she was about as far from him as she could possibly be, now?
"Do you need anything, Daddy?" she asked. Stalling, maybe. She needed to build up her courage. "A drink, maybe? Anything?"
