At least he'd been somewhere safe. Steve hadn't worried that he'd disappeared from town completely, he'd have known about that if he had. Somehow he would have known. Steve had just worried about everything else, had known that his friend had gotten hit by what was happening, and had guessed that was why he'd disappeared. Steve could understand, there were a lot of ghosts in Bucky's past. But that didn't excuse disappearing.
"You scared her," he said simply, his voice quiet and even. Their kid was messed up enough on a normal day. Right now, it was worse than ever and having someone she trusted disappear out from under her hadn't helped her feel safe. Steve had spent the last couple of days at her side trying to repair that damage.
