Who: Alex Udinov and Pietro Maximoff What: Alex sees a ghost Where: Farmhouse (outside) When: Saturday Afternoon Warnings: talk of character death since...ghost Status: Closed/Ongoing
Alex had been a bit distant since she'd been back. Maybe that was why she was standing outside in back of the house, staring off at the vast land and sky. It was lightly raining and just a little chilly.
Sure, she spoke with her house mates and was still sharing a room with Pietro. She wasn't avoiding anyone. She just wasn't quite there. Not mentally. She was still processing everything she'd been through on her trip back home. She'd been home for over a year, and a lot happened in that time.
Watching someone she loved die in her arms? That was an awful gut punch, especially because she was the reason it happened. No, it wasn't her fault. She knew that on some level. Amanda messed with her head, taking her memories and scrambling them. That resulted in a mutiny that Alex and her messed up brain was behind. Sean...all he wanted to do was help her...save her. He was a good person, a good soldier, and he didn't deserve to be caught in the crossfire.
Alex loved him. She never got to tell him that, not until he was in her arms, bleeding out. She hoped he heard her.
Now she was back here, and all of her memories has come flooding back instantaneously. She remembered Pietro and how much she loved him. She hadn't been sure if she should tell him about Sean. It almost felt like it could be a betrayal, even if Alex didn't remember this place. But being held by Pietro again, she remembered how important he was, and she remembered how lucky they were to have a chance to be together. She knew what would happen if Pietro were to go home.
Just thinking about losing him, too, it was a lot. She didn't want to confront that kind of loss again.
Hey you.
Alex looked around when she heard a voice. She stopped dead in her tracks. There he was...Sean.
You know I don't blame you, right?
"I was wondering if you'd show." She knew about people seeing ghosts, and knew this was a possibility. Still, it was a shock to the system.
He gave her his most charming smile, and she smiled in return. She could feel tears fighting to break free, but she held them off for now.
You moved on.
She was relieved that there didn't seem to be anger or resentment in his tone when he said it.
You deserve to be happy, Alex.
"Did you hear me? When I said I love you?"
Sean nodded. You didn't need to say it. I knew.
By now, her tears had escaped as she was feeling a sense of relief and an intense grief at the same time.
You deserve to have the best life. You have to live it. For me.
He disappeared just as quickly as he appeared. He was gone, just like that. She wondered if she'd see him again. Right now, she was alone. She began wiping away the tears, trying to steel herself for when she was ready to go back inside.
This place could be so cruel at times. Seeing the ghost of the person who died in her arms? It was a bit draining. It was also a blessing. This felt like closure in a way.
