Sydney Sage was not a coward. She was a pragmatist and she fully knew the boundaries of her capabilities, and while she wasn't the type to throw herself into danger - that was the realm of Dhampirs - she wasn't a coward. She most definitely didn't run from knowledge...even when that knowledge was frightening and unsettling and completely threw her worldview into a tailspin. She had magic. That terrible, corrupting, evil thing she'd been taught all her life to hate and fear lived in her. That made it doubly important to learn all she could about it, so she could be responsible and not hurt anyone with it. She'd seen how easily magic could go wrong and bring future children here, or made people swap powers. She had to prevent hers from doing the same. She came to this decision after her third cup of black coffee, and she was vibrating more than her phone when she pulled it out to text Paige. Turning away from the counter at Starbucks, she bumped against someone who was just passing by. With a gasp, she quickly moved her coffee cup away - but it was too late: it was already splashing. "I'm so sorry!" |
