WHO: Mary Crawley and Edmund Hewlett
WHAT: Reuniting with a friend after a long absence
WHEN: Morning of Oct. 28
WARNINGS: None
When Edmund awoke to find himself in Madison again, he was not nearly as upset as he would have expected himself to be. Of course, that was likely because there wasn't much to leave behind in his home world. Really, this was only another addition to the string of inconvenient and unpleasant happenings in his life of late, and he had grown too tired to continue being upset by yet another upheaval that was out of his control.
Besides, it wasn't as if he was in any hurry to return to Britain in disgrace.
After some thought, he decided his best course of action would be to seek out someone he knew from his last time here. The answer as to who that would be was obvious: Mary Crawley, of course. There was no one to whom he'd been closer during his last time here, and no one he knew here with a more level head than she. He wasn't sure he was ready for the cheerful and brightly overwhelming optimism of some of the ladies he had known before. Besides - He hadn't gotten the chance to say goodbye before he left last time. She was owed an apology, even if it was out of his control.
He only hoped she was still here.
Edmund made his way down to the Madison Valley Tea House and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw it. It looked the same. That was a good sign. If someone else had taken over, they might have changed it. Even if she wasn't there this morning, surely an employee would know where to find her. He took a deep breath and stepped through the door, hoping beyond hope she was still there.
