Who: Melissa Glaser & Open What: Studying Where: Starbucks When: After school on Tuesday
With Halloween upon them, Melissa knew she should feel excited. Dressing up, drinking too much, dancing, and free candy were all positives for a teenage girl, but she couldn't shake the slump she was in. She'd nabbed that sexy bunny costume, tried it on, and found it fit perfect. This factor alone should have made her feel great, but it didn't. She knew a lot of this had to do with missing her Circle. Though she did not get along with all of them all the time, they were a part of her and yes, they were her friends. They possessed an understanding of her that no one else could quite grasp and she missed that. Oh, she was grateful for the friends she had here, especially Tea, but she couldn't seem to break the grip loneliness had upon her heart. On top of that, she missed her father and she would be graduating soon from high school and he wasn't even here to share in it. One of the proudest moments of her life and the only family she had left wouldn't be around to witness it. The thought alone bore enough weight to crush her. Why should she bother graduating? She was never going to leave this town anyway. Madison Valley in all its 'small town glory' was her fate. Lovely.
Melissa nursed her triple chocolate cappuccino something and gazed in boredom at the open book in front of her. The contents were plant combinations with a focus on survival should one find themselves in the middle of nowhere without substance. The focus resided on edibles, but because of her mother, Melissa was determined to know everything she could about agriculture, centering on herbs. Specifically, she was hoping to discover potential potion combinations with them, but so far, she was yet to be inspired by anything she read. Though she had a few notes scribbled, she wasn't sure how helpful they would be until she actually started experimenting with the combinations and without a Book of Shadows, she wasn't sure if she could act on it anyway. Hence, back to sipping her overpriced coffee special and trying to memorize as many history facts as she could before the exam tomorrow. Something else with the potential to put her to sleep.
