Who: Thea Queen & Open When: Monday afternoon What: Shopping for Halloween stuff for Verdant Where: Walmart of course!
While it was probably not necessary for Thea to shop for the club, Walmart had good prices, especially on their Halloween decorations. She knew she could hire a company to come in, jazz the entire club up in a few hours, and have it all over quickly. She wouldn't have to lift a finger; she would merely give instructions and provide impute, sometimes with something as little as a nod and a smile. Yet, Thea couldn't help, but want to be a little more "hands on" lately. For one, it provided her with a distraction and while she might come off cheerful, care-free even on the network, she was still learning to deal with being alone in the house, Sara's blood lust, specifically aimed at her, and a guilty conscience that remained stubbornly in place. Picking out silly, somewhat stupid scary stuff was a task that required thought outside the depressing space her thoughts had come to hole up lately. Besides, shopping for Halloween reminded her a lot of home and her family.
Yes, the Queens were noted for having lavish parties and for Halloween there was no exception. The entire mansion would be coated and covered in whatever spooky, crazy decorations their mother and them could come up with. Of course as they aged, the parties evolved to be more about the costumes, the DJ, and the booze. As children, it was mostly to entertain their friends, a hangout after hours worth of Trick Or Treating were completed and a safe house of sorts where they could dump out their candy and assess the brilliancy of their haul for that particular year. In a way, she knew Oliver and her cheated; they could dump one full sack in the limousine and simply grab another to start the process all over again. They did share their massive amount of sweets...sometimes. Thea was pretty sure that they still had candy left over by the time the next year's Halloween came about. By that time, they were sick of candy, but somehow, they would always suit up, grab their pillow cases, and bring home tons more. It would be a lie for Thea to say she did not miss those day; there was a precious simplicity in them that she couldn't help, but long for at times. Before she found out her father was not her real father, but it was Malcolm Merlyn.
Turning the corner, she lifted up a streamer, studying it with curious eyes. It was bright, festive, with holographic pumpkin faces and miniature ghosts. No, it wasn't scary, but it was cute and she could picture it hanging around parts of the bar. Taking two, Thea tossed them into her cart. Walmart had such great prices on their decorations and with the holiday inching closing, they were only bound to drop even more. Thea was also looking for things to use as a center piece. She was contemplating a few sparkling, glittery pumpkins to situated strategically about the bar or maybe the black cat? Deciding on the pumpkins, Thea took as many as she could and placed them carefully on top of the streamers and garland. Now, she she do lights? It was a possibility, but she did hire a company to bring in some decorations, especially when it came to lighting and effects, but maybe some orange lights around the restroom doors would be good?
