One of the most interesting things about Madison Valley was meeting people who had experiences similar to yours. Back home, no one except Bellamy could really understood the choices that Clarke made or the guilt she carried over those choices. Knowing that you did what you had to do to protect your people didn't ease the crushing weight of knowing you were responsible for such catastrophic loss of life. It was something she knew she would carry with her for the rest of her life. She didn't regret those choices and was willing to bear those feelings so her people didn't have to, but it meant that she was awfully lonely a lot of the time because no one could really understand.
Here, though, there were people who understood. People who were forced to make similarly horrible choices and live with the consequences of those choices. It was one of the reasons she and Erik bonded and she was beyond grateful to have that friendship in her life. To have someone that she could talk to without judgment who could actually relate.
Given the post Adamus made on the network about guilt, Clarke had a feeling he could be another friend who understood. They met briefly when he was in town the first time but never got close enough to talk about such things. He didn't remember that, but Clarke did and was looking forward to getting to know him better. She arrived at Starbucks, ordered a hot chocolate, and found a table tucked in the corner to wait.
