Who: Lincoln and Amberle Elessedil What: A random meeting When: Thursday afternoon Where: The woods Warnings: TBD Status: Closed/On-going
Summer was lingering, the weather still warm enough to stay in the woods, and for that Lincoln was glad. When winter came, his family would need to move back into town, to live indoors through the worst of the cold. In part for Octavia, who hadn’t been Trikru for all her life, but more so for the baby, who was still very young and shouldn’t be made to survive a harsh winter if it wasn’t necessary.
It was for the best to go back to down, but the longer they had before they needed to do that, the happier he would be. Every day that passed in this place, another day that Lincoln tried to fit in and become one with the town, was another reminder that he never would. It was too different from every life he’d ever known, he distrusted sooner than he trusted, he would never be a part of the community. He kept trying, for Octavia, for Aurelia, for himself, but it was plain that he was always going to be an outsider. And he was more at home in the woods than anywhere else.
Given the good weather, he had taken Aurelia with him to check traps, the baby strapped against his chest as they trekked through the woods.
The rustle of a presence, large enough to be a person or a danger, caught Lincoln’s attention and he reached toward the knife at his hip even as he turned toward it, more curious than afraid. He was ready to defend himself, but not a danger himself.
