WHO: Finch Holland and OPEN WHAT: Fall morning with the baby WHEN: Sunday morning WHERE: The park by the river WARNINGS: TBD, Truthiness! STATUS: Open/Ongoing
Finch loved fall. She always had, because it meant that the Reaping was over for another year - but here, in this place, it was even better than that. The crisp, cool air, the falling leaves, pumpkin spice lattes...all of those things made this world pleasant and peaceful. And she loved it.
Katie was getting very close to taking her first steps, and she loved to practice standing, still holding on to her mother's hand tightly, of course. She didn't quite have the balance yet for walking, although it wasn't going to be long before she did. So this morning, instead of waking Adam up (he got so few days to sleep in, after all), she took Katie to the park, where the soft grass could catch her falls. She never cried much when she fell...she just pushed herself to her feet and got to work again with a determination that Finch couldn't help but feel proud of.
Sitting on a blanket, she held Katie's hands as she waddled around, knowing that her daughter needed her, and never wanting to let go. She felt blessed, really, although there were times she wished that she'd had...maybe five more years before having Katie. Everything would have been so much easier. It wasn't that she loved her daughter any less, or regretted having her...she just couldn't help but think that things would have been easier - and better for Katie - if she'd been a little older.
