Fix: Heya, Harry. What’s up? [His voice is a little tentative, as if he’s not sure if he can trust the Winter Knight]
Harry: Pulling a favor for a friend. [he pauses] Look, I like you, but if you’re gonna be an asshole we’re gonna have a bad time.
Fix: Uh, I’m coming up empty here, Harry. What are you talking about?
Harry: Justine, you ass. [he practically growls the sentence] She’s not the most.. aware person but don’t be a dick to her, man. It’s not right.
Fix: Uh, right. I was just trying to help her out, Harry. You know, give her a hand up.
Harry: Yeah, she doesn’t need your handouts, man. Thomas has got her. And if you upset her again--I’d like not to have to give you more than a warning call. I don’t like when people are assholes to women. Even if I like the guy, okay? So cool it. She doesn’t need saving.
Fix: Right. Harry, did you miss the fact where she’s enthralled by a White Court Vampire? She’s food, Harry. I’m sure Thomas has got her, but that doesn’t make it right.
Harry: I don’t feel like explaining to you. Just back off and make nice with her, okay? You upset her, and she kind of.. flips out. It’s not good for anyone. Apologize and we’ll call it good.
Fix: Look, maybe you missed the memo, Harry, but I definitely don’t take orders from the Winter Knight. I did the right thing. I’m trying to help her.
Harry: The right thing, my ass. You upset her, dude, and that’s never the right thing to do a woman. Ever. So stop being a dick, and if you don’t take orders from the Winter Knight how about a friendly suggestion from Harry Dresden. You liked him once. And he kinda knows the girl involved and has a better handle on the situation, or so I hear.
Fix: I still like Harry Dresden. He’s a good guy. Did a lot for me a few years back. Not sure how much longer he’s going to be around, though, which is a real tragedy. [He pauses] Yeah, okay, fine. But I don’t like it, Harry. I don’t like vampires enthralling people and I don’t quite understand why you’re okay with it.
Harry:[he snorts, darkly amused by Fix’s statement] It’s complicated. I don’t like it either, but I understand, man. Leave it at that.
Fix:[sighs heavily] Yeah, yeah, alright. I’ll give you this one. I owe you a lot still, and I can budge on this.
Harry: Thanks, man. [he sounds relieved.] Talk to you later. [hangs up]
