Daryl knew the park was a public place. He expected other people. He even maybe expected them more than he expected walkers. Still, it had been a long time since meeting strangers had been anything short of a reason to be very very cautious, at best. He wasn't used to social niceties but, then, he hadn't been before the walkers came either.
The girl was young (or looked young, she could have been 100 years old for all he knew in this mixed up joint), she also looked alert. Aware of herself. There was a time Daryl may have noticed she was pretty but that had long since slid down to about last on his list of priorities.
Rather than being insulted, though, her question actually warmed him to her, just a little. "If you're not here to take me to 'em either then nope." He lowered his weapon a little to show his good will though his finger remained on the trigger. "You can talk all you like."
He was rusty at social exchanges, used to Rick speaking for the group or his few close friends starting the conversations they wished to have with him. Daryl was a man of few words but this girl was in the same boat he was. He supposed he should at least try. "You're not from here, are ya?" he drawled.
