The snow that had hit on Friday was amazing. What was even better was that it had remained cold enough that it hadn't melted yet, and Molly was enjoying every bit of it. It wasn't just the Winter part of her that loved the onset of her season, but the little girl who used to stage snowball fights with her dad and siblings in the backyard of their comfortable Chicago house. Snow had a special place in her memory, even before she had become Winter Lady, and today it was making her feel...younger. Which was a lovely feeling as lately she'd been feeling so old.
She'd made a kick-ass snowman (with only a little help from her winter powers, really...it made it so much easier to keep everything held together), had done a little sledding, and had made a thousand snow angels all over the slope of the hill before she realized that the one thing missing from her little snow-escapade was other people. Other people to laugh with. Other people to throw snowballs at. Other people with whom to share the fun, and drink hot chocolate with, afterwards. Molly had never been particularly good at other people. It seemed she was best at either chasing them away or scaring them - often both at the same time.
But it was winter, and there was snow, and Christmas was coming, and she couldn't hold in the happiness she was feeling at the combination of all of these three things. So picking up a pile of snow, she shaped it into a quite perfect snowball, and lay in wait for the next person to walk by. It took a few minutes, as it was still quite early, but as soon as she heard footsteps, she flung it in their direction, laughing with glee as she did.
