Where: WAMM
When: Thursday after school a while after this

Angel had not been surprised in the least when he found a tiny blonde figure making a trampoline out of his bed. He had wordlessly stood and watched her until she noticed him, at which point Kendra -- because he could tell, even now, when it had been far longer than a year in his perspective since he had seen her that it was she and not her twin -- easily launched herself toward him, using the bed to propel her into his arms. And he caught her deftly, a small smile on his face. “Hey, dearheart,” he said to her softly. “Hope you weren’t waiting long.” And it was with her he stayed, bringing her out to play with Will. He didn’t know where Kathy was -- he felt, if her sister was here then surely she must be too. She must be with her mother. Fortunately the school day was ending, and he knew already that Buffy had received his texts. First about the kids in general, then about Will showing up younger than the last time. And now that Kendra was here. He hoped she’d hurry. And that Katherine was with her. Not because he was having any trouble with the children. In fact, though he didn’t really notice it himself, he was more at ease with them than he’d been the last time. Part of it was the lack of shock, but the other part… Well, the other part of his ability to handle it this time was his paternal instinct, which had been triggered in full force by Connor. Angel was determined not to allow his deep, deep desire to see his boy -- his firstborn, really -- again show. He was desperate and hopeful despite himself that Connor would appear just like all the others. He knew it was foolish, but he couldn’t help his feelings. At least with the kids, he was especially careful not to show any sign that he was less than happy to see them. With Kendra and Will, he had his most rambunctious ones to entertain and he’d set up a game that would keep them physically active (and hopefully exhaust them) as they waited for Buffy to appear. Not hide and seek -- that was strictly out of the question even though Will was extremely eager to play what was probably his favorite game. Instead the kids were taking turns chasing each other around the training room. Angel had set up a few of the mats on the ground and the furniture was spread out haphazardly. The goal was to avoid touching the floor as well as to ‘tag’ each other. It was actually a simplified training exercise, as the goal was to land some kind of hit while keeping in motion and avoiding being ‘hit’ at the same time. Or it was kind of like a game of Hot Lava Monster, and Angel just wasn’t aware of it. As Kendra performed a kind of uncoordinated somersault to avoid Will, Angel watched approvingly from the sidelines. |
