That's...empathy's one of those things you can't afford to lose in my line of work. By that I don't mean getting emotional in front of patients, that's never a good idea, but you have to care, because sometimes there's nothing more the medicine can do and kind words and understanding's all you've got left to give.
I hope I don't expect it'll come to that in this case, though. You'll do fine, if you have to.
I don't have a microscope and slides, or the first idea of where to purchase them here, and while I could likely get you their consent, I don't know if those from much earlier times than mine would be able to properly comprehend what they were consenting to. Either way, I doubt it's going to be a real problem: we don't have an epidemic on our hands, as evidenced by the lack of people coming forward with symptoms, and I've isolated those that are already symptomatic. If we're fortunate, that's the end of it.
