School had ended a little after three, and then Cato had gone to football practice. He liked the sport, it felt good to actually be fighting again - and really, wasn't that what football was? They stood on a line until the center hiked the ball, and then his job was to see that the Quarterback ate as much dirt as possible. That was something that Cato could definitely do. What he didn't understand, though, was why they had such ridiculous rules as 'unsportsmanlike conduct' or 'unnecessary roughness'. Roughness wasn't unnecessary if it was all he could do to get that bastard down. It was how you won. But these people were so afraid of getting hurt that they made it basically impossible to win. It was frustrating, but he was trying to play by the rules, as much as he hated them. After all, they had to at least try to fit in here, as little as he liked it. And as much as the others thought he wasn't trying to.
After practice, he'd grabbed a chicken sandwich at the McDonalds across the street before making his way to the gym to finish his workout. The other players always seemed so tired after practice, but he felt like he'd hardly begun. At home, they had two hours of practice in before breakfast. Shit.
He'd been there for several hours, and had finally reached the point where he felt as if his day's workout wasn't ridiculously lax. He grabbed a towel and wiped the sweat from his face, and shrugged on his jacket. The cool air would feel good - but it wouldn't be particularly good for him after such a workout.
Making his way outside, and starting the jog back to his apartment, a car nearly hit him in the darkness. He slammed his hand onto the hood, his face livid with anger, and flipped the driver off.
"Fuck you! Fuck you, watch where you're going, you asshole, or I'll gut you like a fucking pig!"
He stepped out of the path of the car, and into another person waiting to cross the street.
