Caroline wasn’t a big fan of change...well, okay, she wasn’t a big fan of change that she couldn’t control. Which in Mystic Falls, aside from all the doom and gloom, she’d had an overwhelming amount of control over her life. Or at least aspects of it. Even through Silas trying to bring about the end and Klaus and his hybrid schemes and using Elena’s blood and a hundred other little things, Caroline had maintained control over her schooling, over cheerleading, and a long list of other things that had helped her not to go crazy. Because that’s how she was currently feeling, like she was losing it or so very close to losing it.
She needed to find something to focus on and she had tried with the Winter Fesitval or Carnival or whatever it was going by idea, but her heart wasn’t into it. Not when it only reminded her of the last one she had attended and how everything had gone completely to hell at it. Which only reminded her of Tyler who apparently was only going to break up with her if she ever even made it home. And that hurt.
She hadn’t even experienced the break up, had only heard what Bonnie was able to tell her, but it still cut through Caroline like a knife. Knowing what was supposed to be her forever love had burst into flames and all of the other crazy news was too much. And then to top it all off, Anna wasn’t coming home.
Caroline hadn’t known her very long, but she had thought they had bonded some over the last few weeks, and she hated the idea of the girl being on her own. Even if she was way older than her. It sucked. It wasn’t fair.
Nothing was fair.
So she’d set out for a walk, needing to get away from the four walls that felt like they were closing in on her. She wasn’t headed anywhere in particular, but eventually she made her way to Stefan’s apartment. Once Caroline realized where she was she nearly turned around, not wanting to bother him with the mess that was her head.
But she didn’t want to go home either.
So she knocked at his door and hoped he’d feel like having some company.
