First of all, as my little contact marker shows, my name is Georgia Mason. I'm a representative from the refugee population to the town Council ('refugee' being the general word for those of us who are displaced in higher dimensional space).
There have been tensions between the local government and the refugee people, and a lot of distrust on both ends. Hiring a refugee in a law enforcement capacity is an olive branch. It's a sign of willingness to work together, and it'll be pleasing to people to know that we have someone who will understand some parts of the adjustment process working with law enforcement. We've had some issues with people breaking laws they didn't know were laws because of timeline divergence.
