He hadn't actually seen it happen until that night, because he wasn't counting when he'd shown up there, disoriented and confused. But he was on the roof of the library and just happened to be looking down when he saw a woman literally appear from thin air. Yet another unwilling victim of whatever the hell was going on that was bringing people there. He'd heard speculation that it was magic of some kind, which made him uneasy. He knew magic existed because Clark had told him stories of how it had been able to harm him, and hell, if aliens and meteor-infected and mutants and superheros and ghosts could all exist? Why not magic too?
Shaking his head, Oliver looked around, half expecting to see someone from the Council suddenly appear to fill the newcomer in on what was going on. But it was late, so maybe they were all sleeping. He still wasn't sure how they managed to track everyone who showed up here in order to greet them.
Watching her for a moment and realizing no one else was coming, he sighed. This wasn't exactly what he'd meant when he'd signed up to greet newbies. He was in his full uniform and it was hard to keep a secret identity secret if he didn't keep out of view. Still, he couldn't just let some new person stand there in the middle of the road looking lost and not having a clue what was going on. It wouldn't be right.
So Oliver quickly headed down the fire escape on the side of the building and moved in her direction. He'd just have to keep his distance while he explained what was happening and hope she didn't just assume he was a crazy person.
