WHO: Kvothe and Cassiopeia Black WHAT: Match-up! WHERE: On the street not far from the library WHEN: Friday morning STATUS: Closed/Ongoing WARNINGS: TBD
Kvothe was pleased about his role in the school play, but he couldn't say he was entirely surprised. After all, he very much doubted that there was anyone else in this place who had been trained for the stage practically since birth. He felt more comfortable there than nearly anywhere else, even though he hadn't really acted - on a stage - since he was twelve. There was something comforting about it, and yet also something...very sad, even lonely about it. His first reaction upon finding out had been a burning desire to tell his father - the first thought of its kind he'd had in nearly five years. And one that yanked the joy right out of the moment.
But no one would ever know of that. No one would know a thing as he hid under the mask that hid him not only from others, but from himself as well. He could play any role, act any part, and he had done hundreds in the past five years - all but the role of Kvothe, which was too complex and painful for him to get his mind around accurately.
He could be whoever he wanted to be, and convince the world of it, which was both his blessing, and his curse.
He'd gone to the library today to find some books on cowboys and early 20th century 'Oklahoma', neither of which he had any familiarity with at all. He'd read some articles on the internet (as he didn't have a computer at home), looked at some pictures in magazines, and checked some books out to take home to read at a more leisurely pace.
Coming out of the library with his books shoved into a bag thrown over one shoulder, he was going a bit faster than perhaps he should have been, and missed the dark-haired girl coming up the stairs until it was too late. He smacked right into her, losing his balance, but managing - thanks to his training with the Adem warriors - to right himself with only a slight twist of his ankle, and quite adeptly fall into a deep, and somewhat mocking bow.
