Who: Alyssa, Ned, and Peter
What: they meet Eyeore!

Alyssa didn’t quite know what to expect in a portal based on the Hundred Acre Woods. But the blonde had to admit that in a world where the worst thing was overeating honey she breathed easier. Cartoon version of her and the boys made her giggle, especially with how her wings currently looked.

“So… are we gonna go find an Eyeore tail? Eat honey with Pooh Bear?” She knew she seemed… lighter with the appearance of her husband. Alyssa missed Damien and still loved her vampire, but she hoped he found love back home too.

Ned was taking in his cartoon-self with interest. His skin looked so smooth. This was different than turning into a My Little Pony always kind of almost the same in some ways. No magic, though, and he thought they all looked a little more whimsical.

“Eeyore is my favourite.” Which may or may surprise people who knew Ned. He sort of got the worry-wart donkey and he also always wanted to give him a hug. “So my vote is find Eeyore first.”

“Eeyore,” Peter agreed, not taking his eyes off the skin of his arm; he flipped it over, then flexed his fingers testingly. “I wonder who designed how we look.”

The Netherling nodded at their plan. She watched the other two and grinned with fondness. Alyssa liked how she looked in this form and immediately took a photo.

“I love Eyeore too.” He seemed like he needed a hug and she wanted to hug the guy.

She raised an eyebrow at Peter as they walked. “The Dome probably?” They passed a tree with buzzing bees and she stopped. “How do we know where to find Eyeore?”

“Could it be A.A. Milne?” Ned wasn’t sure why he remembered who wrong Winnie-The-Pooh, but he did. He had no idea if there was a different illustrator though. “Do you think he’s writing a new book with us in it because we’re in it now?” He liked the idea of being in a kid’s story book. If he was in an adult one, he’d worry, because there was always more drama and danger in adult books than a children’s picture book.

He stopped when Alyssa stopped. “Uh… Well, it can’t be that big of a place, right?” Translation - he had no idea.

“I mean, not unless the Dome –” or A.A. Milne, if he was their Grand Designer “--really wanted to build something big.” Peter had never made an attempt to go as far as he could inside of the Dome’s little worlds. He got the feeling that even if he did, he’d eventually just wind up back where he started.

“If we can find Pooh’s Corner, maybe we can ask him.” It was one of the few landmarks that Peter could think of that was big enough for them to catch sight of from a distance. Well, that and Christopher Robin’s home. But he was way more familiar with Pooh’s Corner than he was with what Christopher Robin’s house looked like.

If this was A.A. Milne’s doing then Alyssa found herself with even more questions than previously.

They walked about fifteen feet and Alyssa stopped. “Or there is Eyeore.” He was staring at a stream and Alyssa walked slowly.

…did anyone know what Christopher Robin’s house looked like? Truly. Alyssa drew a complete blank and she’d read the stories to her kids when they were little.

“Um, excuse us, Mr. Eyeore?”

Was it the same thing as meeting a celebrity? Sort of. At least for Ned. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other and back again. This was so cool. He wanted to ask so many questions, but he bottled them up for the moment as he waited to see what would happen.

The donkey slowly turned around as he said in a slow, sad tone. Eeyore will do just fine-

He stopped and looked Alyssa up and down, and then paused on the wings she had. His eyes widen a little and it seemed to stop any more words from coming.

Could he pet him? Peter wasn’t sure what protocol was, but he was also too nervous to ask.

“It’s nice to meet you, Eeyore.” Peter could feel his throat suddenly dry up and his tongue felt like it was stuck to the roof his mouth. “I’m Peter Parker, and these are my friends..” He paused, giving them the opportunity to interject with their own introductions.

Alyssa didn’t quite know what to expect, but a surprised Eyeore hadn’t made the list. Why a surprised Eyeore hadn’t made the list she couldn’t say, “I’m Alyssa,” she said to follow up Peter’s introduction. “We’re new here. And…”

Well what the hell did she say that didn’t sound like a fucking stalker? Her eyes met both bros’ and then she added, “We’re fans and wanted a chance to meet you. Very lovely to make your acquaintance.” Hopefully that didn’t terrify the donkey too much. Alyssa thanked Kayla for keeping Chessie occupied at the store. He might be a bit much.

This was cooler than Ned imagined and he had a pretty good imagination. Sure, sometime his imagination was only good for worst-case scenarios, but still. He was trying to keep it in. Peter might have better control, but Ned didn’t, especially when he was excited. After all, Peter himself knows how many questions Ned asked him about Spider-Man.

Which is why Ned suddenly blurted out, “CAN WE PET YOU?” It was like he had been near bursting to ask it and now he looked relieved and maybe a little panicked that he asked it.

Eeyore stared at them, perplexed as ever a cartoon donkey could be. “...I suppose so.”

“Yes!” Ned closed the distance like an excited kid and gently petting Eeyore which felt weird and also soft at the same time. Cartoon soft?

Peter wasn't going to ask but he wasn't going to escape this opportunity, either. He let a hand rest on Eeyore's back and gave it a gentle stroke.

“Whoa, your fur's really soft!” This was no disingenuous attempt to hype Eeyore up; he was 100% genuine. But if the compliment cheered him up, Peter wouldn't be disappointed, either. “Seriously.”

Alyssa didn’t move right away. Sure, she wanted to pet Eyeore, but she also didn’t want to overwhelm the perpetually sad donkey, either. After a moment she scratched around Eyeore’s ears and pet him carefully. “You have very soft fur,” the Netherling commented.

“Oh.” The Red Queen picked up his missing tail and reattached.

Ned was pretty sure this might be cooler than meeting Iron Man and Thor. Probably. He kind of wanted to ask to take Eeyore home, but he knew what the answer to that would be. So instead he just pet him a little longer before withdrawing reluctantly.

Eeyore turned his body to look at the tail Alyssa re-attached. “There you are.” As if the tail had a mind of its own. He looked to Alyssa. “Thank you.” He paused. “...Can you fly?” Another pause. “I’ve always wanted to fly, but I don’t have wings or a balloon.”

Ned wasn't the only one who wanted to take Eeyore home, but Peter followed Ned's lead and withdrew his hand after a few moments longer.

Alyssa looked at Eyeore. “I can fly.” She smiled because Eyeore probably didn’t weigh too much.

“If you’d like, I can take you for a short flight.” She thought Eyeore deserved a chance to try if he wanted. Unfortunately, Ned was human and an adult, so she couldn’t offer to fly him.

“Hey - do you think our phones work in here?” He pulled it out of his pants. He had a phone. Maybe it worked the same? “Maybe Peter and I can take photos of you flying with Alyssa, Eeyore and then we can print them out back home and bring them back so you can keep them?”

Eeyore seemed delighted by all of that even if he clearly might not understand it all either. “Well… if it’s not a bother.” He looked at all three of them.

Peter tugged his out of his pocket and powered it on. Sure enough, the screen lit up but the network was still down. There was no texting or calling or accessing the web, but he could access the camera app easily.

“Looks like it does,” he says. “Who has the phone with the nicest camera?”

Alyssa passed her phone to Peter. “Here! I just upgraded my phone.” She dropped her old one too many times.

“It’s not a bother.” Alyssa wrapped her arms around Eyeore and took to the sky.
