Arts and Music Festival!

Thurs-Sun live music, art, and food trucks

Everyone | Outside | Low rating | Festival Time!!

There are stalls where various art is on display. Most is available for sale, but some just for display. Live music will be playing, especially in the evenings and the weekend. There are a few food trucks: one that is Vegan and Kosher, a Halal, a donut one, a nacho one, and a fair food type.
The festival runs from Thursday afteroon through Sunday evening.

Alyssa thought, overall, Kate would be impressed with the festival this year. She'd managed food trucks, vendors, stalls. Even with the plant zombies in April, the Red Queen refused to allow her new trauma to affect the festival. She'd bought a new dress, wearing it for the first day to help her feel a little better about leaving her house and staying outside.

She'd managed to finish getting everything ready and now had vegan pancakes in hand as she walked around, near her stall. Alyssa would be playing her violin Friday night, but for now she could sell some art pieces and deal with any issues which might arise.

Raelle was playing at the festival and it was becoming easier for her to do it every time. Having Rory in her life definitely helped and she no longer only associated her guitar with her mother. It would always be there, of course, but there was more now and Raelle knew, too, her mom would be proud of her. So she played, in part, to honour her mom.

She was just about done her forced vacation from the clinic - the whole infected thing had been a lot for her in a few ways and it had been suggested that she take some time off, and she happily did so. But she missed it now and was ready to go back. The Art and Music festival seemed like a good end to her 'vacation'.

With her guitar case on her back, she was moving around the festival trying to kill some time before it was her turn.

She'd sent Damien off to go spend a little time with his brother, after the promise she'd get food, before her boyfriend returned with...more food. Given how she'd struggled after the trauma, Alyssa knew she had a few pounds to regain.

Alyssa noticed Raelle and smiled at the musician. "Hey Raelle. How are you doing?" She went through the schedule in her brain. "You're up in a little bit." But she definitely had a little time to chat.

Chuuya wasn't an artist or a musician by any means, but he still enjoyed going to the festival and checking it out. Since he liked music more, he usually went to listen to the local musicians perform first for awhile. He wasn't sure how long he had been there but he wasn't really enjoying the song that was currently playing. It sounded a bit too happy for him and he found it a bit annoying.

He didn't feel like listening anymore, so he headed to the arts section. Maybe the music will be better by the time he went back, but for now, he browsed the various art pieces.

Damon wanted to find something to purchase for Elena. Just a little something for her apartment so it felt a little less...not home. He'd been wondering for a bit before he stopped at a booth, eyeing one of the pieces. While he liked it, Damon thought the piece spoke more to him than Elena.

He noticed someone else at the stall too. "Finding anything you like?" Damon didn't do friendly, but he didn't want to make too many enemies in a place no one could leave and...the Mikaelsons already disliked him.

Chuuya had a good eye for art, but part of him wished Irina was still here because she was better with art than he was. Not that he'd ever admit that out loud.

He wasn't the friendly type either, but he was polite at least. Unless someone gave him a reason not to be. "This one seems interesting," he nodded towards the painting he was looking at. "But I can't decide if it would look better in my home or in my office." It would look good in either place.

River was wandering the festival, nibbling at a cloud of candy floss in a truly shocking pink color and perusing the art. Later she might see if Jack or the Doctor wanted to pick one of the music acts to listen to, but for now she was content to see what creativity the people of Madison had produced.

They hadn't disappointed. Each booth was full of interesting things.

She stopped between some to watch a blonde young man painting a mural live as she popped a bit of the candy floss in her mouth. She could be forgiven, she hoped, for being distracted as she stepped back into the flow of people in the street and ran into someone.

"Oh! Pardon me."

In his time here, Lucas had come to appreciate the talent that the people of Madison Valley possessed. He enjoyed these art and music festivals because it put that talent on display, and allowed people such as himself (who had no particular musical or artistic talent) to acquire some for his own collection.

He was walking between booths, considering some of the pieces, when a woman ran into him. He was able to keep himself from casting a knock-back spell to protect himself, and simply nodded at her apology.

"It is very crowded here today," he said, easily forgiving her for the mishap.

	"Isn't it though," she responded pleased, the crowds meant that the festival was a success. "Town is getting back to itself." Bouncing back quite nicely after the darkness of a few weeks ago. Justin - Mural on Main - Open

He'd gotten the horrible pink wall primed before the festival started, using the persuasive powers of a blow job to get one of the local house painters to use his industrial sprayer to cover it with a dark green. Then he'd gone to work with large three inch brushes layering more greens, and blues and then lighter colors to give the whole thing depth.

On Thursday it looked like nothing, slashes of color.

On Friday it looked like, well nothing. But nothing that might be becoming something and people had started stopping to look.

On Saturday the greens and blues gave way to a riot of colors and it suddenly looked like something. Maybe. If you stood far enough back you might see a garden. If you squinted, as though abstract expressionism and post impressionism had imploded and started growing organically on the wall.

But it wasn't quite right. Justin stood back at the entrance of the alley spattered in paint and rubbing his tired hand as he contemplated the wall.

The Wheelwalker planned on visiting the festival multiple times, to help the museum find new art to display. They could always use some new artists and at this point, Alex knew what Rebekah and Claudia liked, Rebekah especially.

She'd stopped to get a coffee and pastry on her way, before she stopped, realizing the awful pink wall now looked...much fucking better. "Well, it's better than before. You look like you could use a break. Or a coffee." Alex managed to be more polite in this place than home, at least in some circumstances. Besides, she recognized him from the art store.

Kayla only wanted a stall for one day. She didn't have a ton of art and sharing most of her pieces still felt like offering up a piece of herself she wasn't ready to let the wider world see. Even Logan didn't see a lot of it, preferring to share with her aunts and her dad mostly.

But, she'd show some of her pieces, the ones which felt less personal, but still nice looking. Her aunt dropped off a coffee for her and a water, both of which helped Kayla relax. Mostly.

Between running the restaurant and helping her aunt, Hope hadn't found the time to request a stall or organize any of her own art for the show. Not that she had much to show. Again, she simply didn't have the time and what she'd managed to create, Hope wasn't sure was worth showing. Maybe next year.

That didn't mean she wasn't going to set aside a little time to support her friends that did participate. Wandering through the stalls, a coffee in hand, Hope paused to chat with a few artists she knew, including Alyssa, before spotting Kayla's table. She was pleased to see that her cousin had decided to show off a few pieces. Given Hope wasn't keep to show her own artwork, she knew how much courage that took.

"Hey," Hope greeted Kayla with a smile. Today, the tribrid was in jeans, ankle boots with a low heel, and simple blouse. Being a werewolf, she tended to run warm so she wasn't wearing a jacket. "How's it going?"

Clawdeen & Open

Clawdeen had been pleasantly surprised with the turn out at the festival and at her booth. She was pleased with the number of people that had checked out her boards, and there was even people that weren't into skating that had thought they were cool looking. So, that kind of made her feel a little bit better about her desire to do this for a living. Of course, she knew that Elijah and her new family here would support her no matter what, but it was still nice to hear that she was talented from other people.

She still had a few boards that hadn't sold, but mostly because she had still be going home and making a few extra each evening. For her, making boards was relaxing and it never once felt like work. She had also printed out flyers with her contact info on them, so that anyone that wanted custom boards would know where to reach her.

She was sitting at the lawn chair behind her table and Crescent was curled up at her feet. Clawdeen hadn't been able to bring herself to leave the young cub at home.

	Nick stopped to check out the boards, he wasn't someone who actually know how to do that particular sport (and that Ben was someone who had which didn't actually put it on his to do list) but it certainly looked cool. Mickey - Acoustic - Open

If anyone had told him six months prior that he'd be sitting outside a fucking cafe, with an acoustic guitar on a Sunday afternoon, playing at a music and arts festival in a small town he'd have probably asked them what sort of crack they were smoking. And probably beat the shit out of them.

And yet here he was.

Nothing he was playing was originally acoustic. AC/DC, Stretch Princess, Blink, Aerosmith and Green Day all made an appearance but in a completely stripped down, single guitar format. He didn't sing. He didn't even really pay any attention to if anyone was listening. He just did his set. He didn't even really look up until he was packing up his guitar.

Jet had decided that she needed a break from work. She had been working non-stop for what felt like weeks, even though there had been a break with the mushroom invasion last month. Other than that, though? She'd been working. So she decided to hit up the Art and Music Festival on Sunday. She didn't want to miss it and then regret it later.

"Hey, Mickey," she said, once he finished and was packing up his guitar. "I didn't know you could play. You play well." She had recognized most of the songs he'd played. They had all sounded really good when Mickey played them. Stripped down and acoustic.

"What other skills are you hiding from me?"

Rhys hadn't planned on attending the festival again, after going with his girlfriend, but he figured he'd swing by and check out today's live music. While not a lover of music like some, he did enjoy learning the variety they played these days.

Also, he could now eat food thanks to Raelle. Human food still didn't taste as good as home, but he could eat it without grimacing, and it all tasted decent. Which meant he could more easily taste food he cooked for Madison and even enjoy dinner with his girlfriend.

Which is how he found himself staring at something he'd never tried before and regretted purchasing: loaded nachos. Rhysand's tastes were more...refined.

Dream's heart was heavy as he wandered the festival grounds. He missed his sister terribly. This event is something that they should have enjoyed together. Instead, Death was back home and Dream was left to explore the offerings of art and music in Madison Valley solo. If this was the Dreaming, it would have already been pouring, the sunny day giving way to clouds and a storm. Another reminder that Madison Valley was not home and never would be.

After wandering through the art stalls, Dream spotted a familiar face amongst the crowd. It was the High Lord, Rhysand, and he was staring down at something that look a lot like nachos, but again, Dream experienced most human concepts and things through dreams and books, not firsthand. As the High Lord was someone Dream had spoken to, he decided to approach. Perhaps finding a distraction in socializing would help ease the ache in his heart for his sister.

Making his way through the crowd, Dream paused in front of the dark haired Fae. "Hello, Rhysand," he greeted. The nachos smelled spicy and they were topped with so many things that Dream could scarcely make out the chips that were the main part of the dish.
